Avoid printing Transmission Verification Report

Each time there is an error on sending the fax, the unit prints out a whole page Transmission Verification Report showing the error.

Is there any way to avoid this printing? I can see the error message on the LCD, and would like to avoid wasting paper.

Thanks.

  • raydiant Jan 08, 2008

I had originally gone through the manual. There is a way to turn it off for successful faxes, but no way in manual to turn it off for unsuccessful attempts.

  • raydiant Jan 11, 2008

I went through all the fax settings, and it only allows me to set transmission printing off for successful sends, not for error ones. If you know the steps, do let me know, but I can't find it in the user manual or playing around with the printer.

You have to change the fax menu settings. Here you can compute the machine to avoid the error reports (see manual chap. fax settings)

  • Anonymous Jan 08, 2008

The machine cant distinguish between good or bad. Just on or off. Thats what I meant in my first post.

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2008

Sorry. I dont have any solutions for that error printing yet. Plz contact brother hotline. They might have some more infos.

Fax transmission reports

What you are explaining should work. If you need prior activity reports from previous faxes, you can press Function then 2 (Act. Report)

I think you might need to press Function, then 7 then 1

From the manual:

Transmission Verification (Xmit) Report You can use the Xmit Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists
the time and date of transmission, and whether the transmission was successful.

When the feature is OFF, the report is printed automatically only if an error occurred during transmission. If the report indicates NG, send the document again. If the report indicates you should check the readability of certain pages, resend those pages.
If you typically send multiple faxes to the same destinations, you may need a reminder to identify each fax transmission. You can select OFF+IMAGE or ON+IMAGE to print a portion of the first page of the fax message on the report.

1 For the FAX, press Function , 7 , 1 .
For the MFC, press Function , 1 , 7 , 1 .
2 Press or to select OFF, OFF+IMAGE, ON or ON+IMAGE and press Set .
3 Press Stop to exit.

Hope this helps you.

Hi could you tell me how to print the report for sending please to keep as proof to a number it was sent

Customizing the Transmission Verification Report You can use the Transmission Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists the time and date of transmission and whether the transmission was successful (OK). If you select On or On+Image, the report will print for every fax you send. If you send a lot of faxes to the same place, you may need more than the job numbers to know which faxes you must send again. Selecting On+Image or Off+Image will print a section of the fax's first page on the report to help you remember. NOTE:When the Verification Report is turned Off or Off+Image, the Report will only print if there is a transmission error, with NG in the RESULT column. 1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 4, 1. 2 Press ? or ? to select Off+Image, On, On+Image or Off. Press Menu/Set. 3 Press Stop/Exit.
