I have a new reformat pc from hp compaq d530. We I can't connect to the internet may be because there is no local area connection. What should I do?

First make sure that you have installed your lan driver and ethernet cable is connected from both end and there is power in your router. Now at command prompt type ipconfig and look for your ip address assinged manually or automatic.....

If you see any ip address try to ping the ip itself and then try to ping gateway..

at command prompt type
ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t (your ip add)

similarly ping the gateway

if you get reply from ip and gateway then it should work.......do reply

Check the device drivers, do network one have a "?" beside them
