Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor
I have a 3 year old Samsung monitor that worked fine until recently. Now when you open a full screen 3D application, the screen goes black and the monitor appears to shut down although technically I don't think its off. The same situation occurs if you shutdown the monitor and try to restart it again. It occurs with DVI and VGA connections and it occurs regardless of the source computer or applicable video card. If the monitor rests for 15 minutes and then restarted, it will function again. Sounds like some electrical component no longer handling surge loads.
I'd like to at least have a repair shop see if it can be repaired and provide an estimate . I've called a couple of the shops on your link but they say that don't typically handle and provide repairs and estimates for monitors - even though I'd be willing to pay a reseasonable charge to look and it and advise whats would be needed ---suggestions
The problem should be dry joints in powersupply section and horizontal output section.Resolder all components mounted on heatsinks HOT Vertical O/P Ic etc.
