Question about Activision Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare for PlayStation 3

I click on the play online and it says connecting to matchmaking server...it never goes any further than that.

Most likely you are behind a Firewall / or preset Router Settings. If this is the PS3 version of the game, most likely its the router. Double check with the specs for Port forwarding online, and make sure the ports are open to allow you to play.

-GamePorts required open / Notes Call of Duty 3Source & Destination port 3074 allow outbound + inbound on UDP and TCP. -

CoD in most instances uses the same ports for all there games. This is the first thing I found after looking through Google search. Hope it helps.

When i click find game for online game at call of duty the console write that connected with matchmaking server and thats it nothing so i cant play online.
Try doing a factory reset on the modem/router, also do a connection test on your PS3 and make sure that your NAT TYPE is 2 anything other than that will give you problems playing online. Let me know if you need help with getting your PS3 to a NAT TYPE 2.

Hi! recently joined playstation network. completed sign in etc. can browse online too. but when i wish to play online it gets stuck 'connecting to matchmaking server' etc
Hi,

can you go to network settings in your ps3 then test internet connection. If it says UPNP unavailable then you need to enable it in your router or upgrade router firmware if router shows UPNP as enabled.

Maybe a simple question, but do you have a good connection to the internet? If so, then either the game publisher won't let you play the demo online anymore, or the game's servers are down. If the servers are down, you should be able to play the demo within a day. If not, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

If not, the game is just fine, you just cannot connect to the internet. If you need help fixing your internet connection, let me know.

Upgrade to the newest firmware, since 3.0 had some freezing issues with some games, if your internet connection is slow it would also cause it to freeze up

make sure you are connected, restart the console and try again. did you concider that the server might be down?

No its not down, im in matchmaking right now and is it any of your settings maybe? Its a problem with your server because thats why its saying about retreiving information from the server. i dunno what thingy to put it in so i put it in solution

I have xbox live and on halo 3
Usually the XBox servers get really busy around Xmas. Lots of new players with new XBox live accounts and new games to play on line. Last year the servers crashed altogether. Combine that with increased bandwidth being used by people in your neighborhood and you could either be losing your connection or the people hosting are losing theirs.

Have you tried hosting a match?

They are making updates to the servers.
Please be patient as they are trying to get the servers up and running.

And yes, some people can still connect to the servers while others can't. This is normal during updates. Just wait for about a week and this will go away. If there's still a problem, call Activision and tell them of the problem.

After several failed attempts I erased the program and redowloadedit then I started getting failure messages which stopped when I hit retry until I go the 1603 message at which ime I couldn't get past that.
