I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 laptop. The ''l'' key was sticking, so I pried if off. This seems to have cured the sticking problem, but with the keycap came a tiny white plastic spring and I cannot see how to put the spring and key back, so right how I am typing on ''l''s on the bare post. Is there any simple way of getting the key back on, or is some special tool required. I had pried off keycaps before and replaced them without difficulty, but this one defeats me.

Hello qtnick, the closest date that is recorded is 2001, this seem to be when the "Tecra Series" was being put into production, I've researched many references, but there wasn't a pinpoint date on any specify model. There is mostly the focusing on the "Newer Models ie: Tecra 9 the predecessor of previous models, and the "Newest" release Tecra 11. So most models were put in to production after 2001. Thanks for your question, paul7of 9
When you hear about the long beep it is a RAM problem which is not totally inserted. You need to check the RAM remove and reinsert it again and try to power on.
