Hi

This ia a known error with the ps3 and unfortunately is not that easy to fix. Sony simply have the following to say about this error

"Error 80010514 - Issue reading Disks"

If this error is showing on more than one disk then the problem lies in the blueray drive itself which has become faulty. Sony are advising that these ps3's which are showing this persistant error need to be returned for service. Expected cost is around $150 if your unit is outside warranty.

For information on how to return your unit see this link

For some reasom my ufc2010 all the suden wont play and gives me a error code of 80010514 can anybody help me

Hello Chadhughes20,

Basically, what is occuring is the corruption of game disc recognition and execution. If you will notice, in 90% of all cases, the drive will still play DVD and even Blu Ray movies with no problems. When trying to start a game however, the title, sooner or later, will receive the error.

You can read further regarding this error by clicking the link below:

Disk wont read or locks up-has error code(8001050f)or(80010514)

Hi,

As you probably know there was a major issue with the PSN NetWork Yesterday

This caused all sorts of problems with trophies failing to register and sync with the server and Sony have warned that there was a risk of damaged data effecting trophies which may be causing the problem you describe.

However, please try this first and then let me know if it resolves the problem for you;

First make sure the system is online.

Then under Game go to Trophy Collection -

Instead of X use the Triangle button then select Sync with Server.

Let me know if this updates the trophies for you. If it helps please leave a vote for the solution.

Thanks.

Erroe codes 8001050f and 80010514

Here’s what’s going on right now: something with the PS3’s internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3’s clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time.
Does this affect me?
-If you have a Slim PS3, you’re good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a “fat” PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.
What does this bug mean?
-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.
How do I fix it?
-You can’t. Even if you don’t sign into PSN, it won’t help. This is a hardware issue.
So, what do I do?
-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the “bugged” day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves…maybe.
-If that doesn’t work, we’ll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.
Did I lose my data/themes/etc?
Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They’ll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they’ll be fine if you’ve synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.
If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?
It’s probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.

My PS3 wont play games (all of a sudden)...one time it showed a start up 'error 80010514' can you please help? Thanks

Hi

Error 80010514 simply translates as "Error reading disks".

This is a very common problem on the Ps3 and is a strong sign that your Bluray drive is malfunctioning.

Sometimes you can resolve it by gently cleaning the laser lens with a Q-Tip and some isopropyl alcohol but most often the lens itself will need replacing.

I have included this excellent walk-through on how you can do this yourself.

Please be sure the console is disconnected from the mains supply before carrying out any of this type of work.

http://www.supermodchips.com.au/pages.php?pageid=36

Otherwise the unit will have to be returned to Sony who generally replace the whole drive unit including the lens. Total cost from Sony is $150 to make the repair.
