Question about Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 (U01E200) 200 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Maxtor 3200 320GB Not being detected

I bought my HDD about 6 months ago and it worked fine. However I lost the power cable for it and was unable to use it for about 4 months. I found one which I think was the correct one but it was not. I then found my original lead but now when I connect it to my laptop it is not detected. The green light on the side flickers and I can hear a wirring sooound like something is spinning.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I don't mind losing the data on it as long as it's fixed.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have done this and the problem is still the same. The green light flashes and the hard drive is not detected.

    What should I do now?

Yeah, I did do this. How would this have damaged the HDD though? What is a USB HDD enclosure? What would be the benifit of changing this?

    Thanks for yoour help.

If you plugged in an incorrect power cable it is very possible it could be damaged if the voltage from the incorrect cable exceeds the drive. try hooking it on another PC, to verify if it's the drive or PC

Hope this helps

you didn't say if you connected it to a "Different" PC.. if you did and it did not work, I would buy USB hard drive enclosure and remove the drive and install into the new enclosure. and hope it is the current enclosure that is bad and not your HD

installing on a different PC is an important step.

I have just found my mobile phone LGCE0168 after losing it 6 months ago. How can I restart the Tesco PAYG sim card

I am wondering if you have tried another sim card in your newly found phone?

In theory there should be no problems just put your sim back in and make calls.

I am wondering If Tesco have changed service provider in the last 6 months? If they have it could explain your problem.
Asda mobile changed provider about a year ago from Vodafone to EE and my phone stopped working because it wasn't an unlocked phone. As it turned out I had to replace my phone for one that was unlocked because it wasn't worth the expense and trouble of having the old one unlocked. The old one still works fine on Vodafone and O2.

Just a thought. Another thought is perhaps it developed a fault while it was lost or maybe someone has been fiddling with it in that time.

There are lots of aftermarket phone shops around with specialists to give advice. The Tesco helpline might be able to help.

Good luck!

Hi everyone. I bought this bad laptop Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 from a dealer to find out that it is a refubrished one. It was working fine till one day I turned it on and found that it could not...

It sounds like the motherboard inside it is old, or otherwise cheap. Older used parts are usually already exposed to some heat deformation, and their life time is significantly reduced because of that. Unfortunately, you might be better off / save more money buying a new laptop that runs at lower temperatures.

You need to set your CD/DVD/CDRW Disk Drive to Boot First. If the Second set of Recovery CD's don't work, Then they are the Wrong one's for that unit.

Microsoft makes it virtually impossible to fix one of their hard drives and you probably won't find anybody out in the tech world who would touch it with a 10 foot pole. You can purchase a used unit for around $50 on eBay and if the drive your replacing isn't bricked, purchase a cheap 360 file transfer kit and migrate your old files to the new drive. Don't worry about any of your Achievements being lost, those are stored on Microsoft servers

Unable to connect USB hard drive to KD-AVX33

I bought this model also. It depends how much power the external drive uses. The models with 2 usb cables usually don't work because they require more power.

The hdd cannot be bigger than around 20GB, not more then 12 folders and no more then 2500 files. I saw at some forums.

If you have a pen drive at 8 to 12 GB i don't think you have problems with these. anything bigger and you have to be lucky.

Maybe at my company i can try some drives as we have them to test/use.
