When using the laptop, make sure it is on a flat surface such as a desk or a tray. You should not sit them directly onto your lap as this blocks the cooling fan vents.

You can buy cooling pads which plug into a usb on the laptop to prevent over heating problems.

The lap top may be damaged and require repairing. If still under guarantee, take it back to where you bought if from.

Medion E7214 overheating

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

Laptop gets warm near touchpad , shuts down

Sounds like it is overheating and then shutting down. Is the laptop on a hard surface or a lap or blanket? You need to have air circulation.

I have a medion akoya laptop and it keeps shutting down when it gets very hot Help please

Usually it due to the dust clogged in the cooling fan. If you are able to disassemble the laptop, then you can clean it yourself. Otherwise contact a laptop technician.

My laptop keeps shutting down at random times. I

Computers may not be smarter than people, but if they’re designed properly, they will shut themselves down before overheating to the extent that they do themselves damage.

If the smart person keeps turning the notebook back on and figures out a way to foil the protection, the laptop is probably doomed. Once a laptop shuts down for thermal event protection, it may refuse to power back up for a fixed period of time, five or ten minutes, or it may begin to boot and shut down immediately as soon as it boots to the point that it can figure out that its too hot.

The over-temperature protection is generally a BIOS rather than an operating system function, so one sign of an overheated laptop is one that shuts itself down while you’re using it and then refuses to boot as far as the operating system unless you leave it alone for an hour or so to cool down.

Unless you’ve been working in a very unfriendly environment, high temperatures, direct sunlight, etc, you should take even a single overheating shutdown as a warning to back up your data at the first opportunity and to give the cooling system a serious cleaning.
Good luck

My daughters laptop keeps turning its self off. everything else is ok.

Hi,
A common problem is overheating with these laptops. They then shut themselves donw to prevent damage. It may have dust buildup inside. This needs to then be cleaned by a professional. Alternately, whe may be putting the laptop on her lap and blocking the ventalation ( even though they cal them laptops, the manufacturers quite often put the main vent on the bottom of the machine, thus causing a problem when clothing blocks the vent).
cheers

Medion MD 96327 - when temp gets to about 92 degrees C - when burning DVD's the laptop shuts down totally. The laptop is on a desk and has plenty of ventilation. Is there anything I can do?

Neil,

Are you sure you got the temps right? 92 Celsius would be about 198 Fahrenheit. That temp would likely fry your CPU

If it is 92 F then this is likely an overheating issue. Listen to see if you can hear the fan blowing in your laptop. If the fan IS blowing then we can rule THAT out. If not you will have to get it repaired or replaced.

If the fan was blowing try getting a can of compressed air and blow out the venting ports on the Laptop. If doin this still does not resolve your problem there are cooling devices at several retailers for notebooks. I've seen them at Office depot, Best Buy and Circuit city

Hope this helps
