Sidewinder Won't Enable

Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro won't enable. All drivers appear to be OK in Device Manager and Windows installed the joystick OK. Using Windows own standard gameport on an Aztech PCI288 soundcard. It will not enable in FltSim or Combat FltSim Any ideas? I have handbook if anybody needs a copy. I am using XP Home SP3

I uninstalled everything to do with sound etc, removed the sound card (gameport included), cleaned up the registry, installed a new sound card with gameport and it is now working. With a new soundcard, you get up to date drivers and that, I think, was the problem. MSFFP does not like an old Aztech Soundcard. Drivers for the joystick are included in XP and seem to function OK but I doubt whether you will be able to use it in Vista. I have the handbook if anybody wants a scanned copy.

No force feedback only with Flight Sim. 2004

O-the sweet feel of a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback lets see if I can be of some help. there could be any number of things going on but I'm going to give this a try. have you checked the settings in Flight Simulator 2004 seems to me that I remember a check box that said disable force feedback make sure that is unchecked. also in the settings for your controller there is a box that says enable force feedback make sure that is checked. then make sure if you are using a firewall like zone alarm you are in gaming mode because this used to give me major headaches with my system to the point I had to detach from the internet and shut down my firewall to play my games. if this doesn't work you may have to reinstall the drivers for the sidewinder this is the last easy option and it should repair any broke links and reset itself into your system. Please let me know how this helped if you need more Ideas just contact me.

Need a port for my MS force feedback pro

Just get yourself a new soundcard with a gameport on board. Disable your MoBO soundcard if you have one and instal the new one. Creative is probably the safest option. Update the drivers and off you go. Don't forget to add the joystick, the drivers are supplied in XP.

Microsoft's Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro Driver

Contrary to popular belief, there are drivers in XP for the FFP. If you configure everything properly and make sure the gameport on the soundcard is woking with updateds drivers, you should be OK. I also have the original manual to scan and send out if anybody needs it. The best option is to buy an old box, throw a 20 Gb HDD into it and load Windows 98. Easy!
