Do the eraser trick http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3lldDG4SnAc then let it flash the rrod for 15-20 mins let it cool for a further 20 mins. the only thing different i did was to take the x clamp off the gpu, scrape the thermal putty off not all of it, just enough to cover the chips with then spread it evenly on the top of them with my finger put the x clamp back on put it back together with the erasers in and hey presto works like a dream. i had error code 0102

If you're comfortable enough opening your 360, you can try this tutorial, which has worked for many people.

  • Anonymous Jan 07, 2008

Note: if your 360 is still under warranty, just send it in to Microsoft for repair as opening it up voids the warranty.

  • Anonymous Jan 07, 2008

You can also try the simpler, towel trick which has worked for many. It also seems like Microsoft might fix your 360 even if it's out of warranty, so it won't hurt to try to call Xbox support at 1-800-4-my-xbox.

Xbox 360 Console: error code 0102 for x box 360...

0102 unknown error
  • though it's most likely GPU related literally means the console does not know what is wrong. possibly a short or cold solder joint somewhere. So far there is 1 major theory for what causes most of these errors is that the Ram, CPU, or GPU are not soldered properly to the mother board due either to poor manufacturing or excessive heat up and cool down cycles that stress, weaken and eventually break the soldered connection.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced. I have also heard of limited success by simply switching the AV cable from "HDTV" mode to "TV" mode.

I have the 0102 code on my Xbox 360 can this be fixed and how?

The XBox error code 0102, is an error in the digital backbone or the CPU or GPU or RAM. This error is generally caused by a cold solder connection between the main board and the GPU. I would recommend calling microsoft about fixing it.

Error code 0102

Error code 0102 is still unknown The xclamp mod is a possible fix for this error there is also a possability that the error is caused by a bad soldering join on your cpu, gpu or your ram. I would check all those parts with a magnifiying glass to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder. Another way to possibly fix this is to turn off your HD format on the AV cables this might work.
