Caller ID will only be available if you subscribe to that service from your telephone provider. Some PBX systems do not provide compatible Caller ID information. The KX-TGA810E handset will not display any Caller ID information if the telephone company Caller ID format is not in the expected format.
Caller ID information is sent after the first full ring. If the call is answered too soon, the caller ID information may not have been sent yet. Some of the many and varied networks do not send caller ID information. In this case you may notice that caller ID is missing only on calls from certain callers. Occasionally bad data is sent, causing your phone to reject it.
Before accepting the phone company's word, make sure another basic caller id phone can display CID. If it does then check the programming in the phone's set up menu to be sure it hasn't been mistakenly disabled.
Well if the phone has been bought abroad and being used in India you will face this problem. this is because of the format of transmitting the caller id info being different. In USA it is STF and in India it is DTMF. You need a convertor in the phone line which is DTMF to STF. IF you find onw in Delhi pl let me also know.
Is the phone FCC approved for use in the US? Does the model purchased in Singapore use the same Caller ID algorithm as US phones? Have you tested a known good caller ID capable phone at your location to make absolutely sure the caller ID is actually turned on?
If your cable service is transmitting the caller id data, and the phone has that feature and is working properly, you should be getting the caller id after the second ring. The only way to confirm where your problem lies (the phone or the cable service) is to take your phone to a regular phone line with caller id and see if it works, and vise versa. My guess would be that the Panasonic phone is working fine on a regular phone line of which it was designed to do, and the problem is in the cable carrier not conforming to industry standards. But I may be wrong.
