This is a bad optics block or sometimes called a light engine. The part will need to be replaced by a qualified technician. Look at the following Sony website as the cost of replacing the optics block should be of no cost to you..

SOURCE: green tint to screen

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Green tint on picture 60in mitsubishi

Turn the color all the way off---examine the screen to see if black and white or screen green in areas or whole screen.

The other possible issue is tint will not vary enough from green to purple when adjusted.

Two different issues--which do you seem to have?

My JVC HD56 has a purple/green tint and isn't very bright.

Not worth attempting to fix and that is the reason it was tossed.

Here is something that may help from the toshiba.com website under your model number television. Q. Why are people on my screen green?
Models: 32HL17, 37HL17, 42HL17, 42HL167, 47HL167, 52HL167, 42HL167, 42LX177, 46LX177, 52LX177, 57LX177

If the problem is not the connections, try adjusting the tint on your television. A high tint setting will usually create a green
image on the screen where as a low tint will create a more red hue. In order to access your television's tint:
1. Press the “MENU” button on your remote control and use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys and select the
VIDEO menu.
2. Then use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight PICTURE SETTINGS and press the "ENTER" button on
your remote.
3. Next use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight TINT then use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys to adjust the
TINT. If the picture is too green the tint will need to be lowered.
4. Once you have adjusted the tint to your liking, use the DOWN arrow key to highlight DONE and press ENTER. The toshiba customer service telephone number is : 1-800-631-3811. I hope this helps you with your problem.

Green tint I can't seem to fix

Hopefully someone on here has a manual and can tell you exactly where the tint controls are. Also need to try adjusting the color level, turn it clear down so you have a black and white picture.
Is the picture still green over the screen with the color control
set clear down to black and white? If it does, you might
have an issue with the green gun going out or problem in the
circuitry to it.

By the way, the best way to adjust the picture settings on a
tv are to first turn the color control clear down, then adjust
brightness and contrast for best black and white picture, then
bring up the color level to where it should be and adjust the
tint for best red/green ratio.

Green Color Tint

I had a similar problem with my tv. Sometimes it depends where the tv is located, have you moved it? Magnesium in the earth caused my tv to have greanish tints in all four corners of my tv. Try moving your tv forward, backwards, or side to side. Let me know if this works.
