Blank trace appears on printed copy

My laserjet 1020 was working perfectly well until about a week ago when i noticed that a balnk trace on the printed docs. Anyway, when i removed the cartridge and wiped it and shook, it printed well but only for a short while as not up to 30 print outs were done. This routine of wiping and shaking has been going on since then and really gets me pissed up. Do i have a ink problem or the print head has a prob?

This is happening to my new HP 1020 Laser as well. I bought a new toner cartridge and thought that had done the trick. It printed a few hundred copies so I stopped monitoring it. Then I checked again and about 50 pages had white blank streaks on the pages. Had to throw them away. So I know the toner is not the problem. I gently shook the cartridge and it was fine for about 20 pages then started happening again. Any ideas???

I'm starting to wonder if it is just getting too hot. This printing was several hundred copies and I wait between every 50 sheets, but I may just need to let it cool down more.

Replace the toner cartridge, this is a case of low toner.

NOTE: you should never clean the drum on the toner cartridge it is sensitive to light and touch.

My laserjet 1020 has a paper jam output message, i followed the instruction that appeared on the screen, but still, the message appear when i tried to print, there is also a red blinking light

Try to press the reset button on your printer if did not works just try to download the reseter of your printer in HP Laserjet 1020 at the HP website. Because your printer have a lifespan printing; example if your printer have a 100,000 copies to be print so you have aloud to print not more than 100,000 copies. That's why need to reset your printer using the reseter program by HP.

Problem with vertical white line on HP laserjet 1020 printer.

there is probably toner on the laser. take a small vacuum cleaner and vacuum out the printer. DO NOT blow out the printer as it may scratch the mirror on the laser. Also take a cloth and some rubbing alcohol and wipe off all the visible surfaces inside the printer.
