Open the case and on the motherboard you will see a couple of plastic jumpers i think they are blue in color one says bios and the other says cmos or somthing to that effect. if you pull the one that says bios off you will see that there are 3 pins MOVE IT TO THE OTHER PIN start the computer you will come up to the setup screen and it will ask you if you want to clear all passwwords press y then it will ask you if you wantto clear all passwwords again press y after that it will tell you to turn off the computer and replace the jumper PLEASE PLEASE DONT FORGET WHERE YOU GOT THE JUMPER FROM otherwise the computer will not start ..restart the computer as normal

Please call dell technical support 18002846655 they will be able to generate a password for you in your bios. just prepare the service tag or express service code of your system which is normally located at the bottom of your computer printed on a white label

Please let me know if the computer is prompting for a password or the screen is just not working. What if my dell latitude e5430 laptop has a hdd that cannot be accessed because all of a sudden it is asking for a password and i never set one up will the win 7 install disc work?
This password can be removed from BIOS, you should try to open BIOS (usually by pressing F2 during startup) and check if HD password is set.

Yikes, that means you put a password on the drive but forgot the password. If it won't let you in, you didn't put the password in correctly.

My dell inspiron 1100 keep say need password authentication system. cant access the data on the computer without the correct password... primary or admin i dont have either...
Take out the HD and ask a friend to look for "Password Remover" DL it. Connect the HD via USB cable and run the software, when asked what you want to do with it, click Remove password. But if is it's in the BIOS, take it to a repaire shop or remove the BIOS battery for 24 hrs, this somethings works.

Fergot password
This is fairly simple, provided that you haven't changed the administrator's password as well as your user password.

Start the machine in safe mode by pressing F8 BEFORE the windows splash screen starts, this is the one that has the bar moving across the bottom before the logon screen.

when prompted, select SAFE MODE

Then log on as the administrator, open your control panel, then user accounts, change an account, select your account, then change password.

Then simply restart the machine normally, and use your new password.

If you have changed and forgotten the administrator password, then it's a little more tricky, and requires some assistance from Linux software, which can be found on Hiren's boot CD. A google search for this will yield the results of where you can find this CD, as well as the instructions for using it.
