Only on color printing am I getting ghosting of the images. How can I adjust this?

  • jawolk Nov 11, 2009

Don, I have been getting a error code to change the black drum which I have not done yet. It is ghosting multiple colors. I ran the Auto Gradiation Adjustemnt full and "express" a few times which seems to have helped some. You mention the transfer belt cleaner. Is this soemthing I can do myself and if so, do you know the P/N and method to change it?

    Thanks

Hp 5550 patchy print

Most of the cases fuser assembly or supplies are causes of ghost image. If image is not properly transferring on media causes transfer roller or ETB.
Do this small exercise: Give print command, wait till paper grabs, once paper entered in cartridge area, power it off, open top & front cover, remove paper and see the print quality.Observed any ghost image what you observed? No ghost image? then problem with fuser assembly..

1.Remove fuser assembly, check any toner particles deposited on surface of fuser transfer roller or heater roller.. if found clean carefully with good cotton cloth while fuser having certain temperature,pl avoid metal & sharp objects to clean..
2. Clean paper path roller(You can observe the rollers to push the paper to reach the destination)
I hope this exercise will resolves the issue..

RICOH FW740 is printing with a ghost image. Can I clean it myself?

Ghost images appear on the printed page because of bad cleaning blade or improper charging of the drum unit. Ghost images appear on the next printed page if cleaning blade does not clean the drum surface. Drum/ photoconductor is very sensitive to light, so special care should taken while pulling it out. When using both the FAX and COPY functions of the Canon Laserclass 710 the printed page shows a 2nd "ghosted" image of the primary image about half way down the page. We've tried a few adjustments but the...

Generally, when you have a ghosting problem, the issue is with the fusing unit. If you have a new fusing unit (or if you can get one) install the new unit and the problem should go away.

If you don't have access to a new fuser, you can try replacing the drum/imaging unit. Sometimes a ghosting problem can be caused by a bad cleaning unit (inside the imaging unit), but usually it's the fuser causing the problem.

Poor print quality

The "ghost" image is "burned" onto the drum.

A laser printer is supposed to charge specific "dots" on the drum, and the toner-ink is supposed to stick only to those "dots", the paper is pressed against the drum, and then the "fuser" uses heat to "melt" the toner-ink onto the paper, to produce the printed page.

You need to replace the drum.

The Fixing Film Assembly is worn-out. it is a frequent problem.

Fix this with a new FUSER Assembly for HP Colour Laserjet 2600/n (200/240v) Part Number: RM1-1821-240CN or Fusing Assembly – RM1-1820(110/120v

Colour printing gives ghost image

Are you using genuine Brother color cartridges? If you are, then try different paper (20 pound laser printer paper or plain paper copier paper rather than inkjet paper,) Also, do not use recycled paper. If that does not work, you may need a new imaging (OPC belt) unit, or a new fuser assembly. Check your owners manual about when to replace the imaging unit or fuser. It is usually after 60, 000 prints have been run.

HP 2600 ghosting

It is a massive pain but a solution that worked for me is to run a 'clean' after every card stock sheet. I know it's wicked awful but it actually worked and I had to run 100 times (one for each good color card stock)
First put plain paper in tray 2
Next
Hit left arrow until you get to 'system service' and press green check
Next
then go to 'clean' and press check
Now it should print a clean image without ghosting
