KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS01FLBL Built-in Dishwasher Logo

For the Kitchenaid model#kudso1flbl2 type 5770, the door will drop like a rock, if not supported. Does this sound like it requires a spring? Is there a way to fish out or reattach the old opring? How hard is it to install a new spring? Thanks Jeremy.

Very easy, take out the two screws from the counter that hold the unit inplace and only pull it out a few inches, then you can angle it a little and get to the spring. They are on the sides at the bottom (you can miss em) if its broke go to marcone.com and you can get a replacment, or just put it back if not broken

KitchenAid microwave oven model kcms 1555. The button for the door does not have any tension as a result the door will not latch close, light will not turn off

It sounds like the door spring had broken. Take the covers off and it should be apparent what had happened. It may be a part you can get at the hardware store or it may be an OEM part.

Broken door spring on kitchenaid dishwasher

Hello,

Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs. Before repairing the door springs, unplug the dishwasher or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The door opens and closes with the aid of springs. If the springs (or the cables that connect them on some dishwashers) break, the door will drop open hard. The door will also be heavier when closing. If the door drops open, it may also bend the door hinges out of shape resulting in a door that does not close properly and possibly leaks.

When replacing the springs or cables, all of them should be replaced at the same time.
To access the door springs and cables remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to get to the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel.
There are two common types of spring assemblies. One type connects the springs from a hook on the dishwasher cabinet of to a tang on the door hinge .

Door falls open

The cables that are connected to the springs are broke, atleast one anyway. You'll need your model number off the machine to get them from a parts dealer. once you have them, pull the machine out a little ways and they install on the left and right side lower area.

I have a KitchenAid KUDS01FLSS2 and was wondering if it is normal for the door to fall open... what I mean is the door requires to be supported when opening. Otherwise, the door will swing down and almost...

Yes indeed that sounds exactly like the door springs being broken. The springs are fairly easy to replace, what needs to be done to replace the springs is remove the lowest service panel/kick plate and hook the springs on the tub support frame/leg and the other end goes on a notch in the door hinges. The part number for the spring is 8270182 they could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

Even though only one may be broke its advisable to replace both at the same time.

Good luck,i hope i have been able to help you fix your dishwasher,

Door drops hard and i have an error code 7 -

The door slamming open is a broken spring/springs. They are very easy to replace - remove the screws holding the dishwasher in... pull out slightly and replace with good ones on the sides.

Can you clear the error code by shutting off power to it?
