The best possible configuration will be to configure the netgear router as an access point.

Can i use a wireless cable modem gateway (netgear) to make my current dsl modem connection wireless.

If your DSL-modem has one Ethernet port, then use an Ethernet cable to connect from that port to the WAN port on your NetGear router. Then, the router will provide both "wired" and "wireless" connections to your computers & devices.

Signal not strong enough can I boost it

The "Wireless / Advanced" configuration window contains a setting for transmit power. Be sure it is set to 100%.
Otherwise, your only options are to replace the antenna with a booster antenna, or to add a stronger wireless router as an access point to your current setup. Using a booster antenna requires the D-Link to have a removable antenna, which it may not have -- none of the documentation calls this out as a feature.
Keep in mind that if you are trying to use this router over excessive distances, boosting the router's own power will not necessarily improve your connection, because the broadcast power of the remote PCs is also a limiting factor.

I am trying to configure my netgear router to work with my dsl motorola modem

You can access your wireless router by first running you ethernet cable from pc to wireless, then in address bar, type 192.168.1.1 and this will enter the wireless router's software. If it asks for username and password, try typing admin for both.

make sure your dsl modem is on PPPoE mode so that it autoconnects..
Now just connect to your wireless router via your pc interface..
