Contact the seller to find out if he / she can provide the password or will pay for a reliable local (local for you) computer repair business to hack it and remove the password protection for you.

If the seller will not, ask to return the laptop for a refund.

I have purchased pre-owned laptops, but only from a local computer store where, if the laptop had password protection, a technician at the store made sure it was removed before sale.

Note: If the seller refuses to provide the password, refuses to pay for computer repair service, or refuses to take it back and refund your purchase price, the laptop _may_ have been stolen. In that case, contact your local police department and talk with a police officer.

If it is Windows login admin password it wants, just reinstall Windows.

Unfortunately there is no means of tracking the stolen GPS.
If you have a record of the serial number, you could report it to the police.
The GPS may show up at a local pawn shop and if the police have the serial number on file, they could possibly recover it for you.

Contact your network provider and ask them to block your IMEI number. This will prevent the thief from using another SIM card in your phone. The phone will no longer be able to make calls unless you authorize it to be unblocked.

While you are talking to your network provider, write down the IMEI number of your phone then make a report to the Police. Sometimes stolen phones are recovered and returned if the original owner has reported it stolen.

Check with local police and see if it is stolen... This is the normal story for thief selling stolen goods. Depending on brand of LT, you may never get it up and running.. If it is IBM, you got screwed... If you can not prove original ownership they wont touch it.. PW is stored on flash chip soldered to MB....

go into safe mode pressing f8 and choose administrator account, go to users on the control panel and remove the password.
