Hello. I can assist you. Just look at the top side of your player and you will see the holes. Using a piece of paper, lay out the holes on the paper as they are on the unit itself, starting out with the length of the unit, and the depth of the unit that you want under the cabinet. Once you have every measurement including the hole locations you have your layout template. Now, just make a small hole where every screw goes, and tape the template up to the cabinet base paying attention to keeping it uniformly away from the back wall and the front of the cabinet. Use a marker to mark the screw holes and you will be good to go.

The GE Spacemaker series of microwave ovens are designed to be installed above an oven range, freeing up counter space in your kitchen. Some of these Spacemaker models are connected to an outside venting system to carry kitchen vapor and odors outside. Other Spacemaker models utilize a ductless system to do this. Removing a GE Spacemaker microwave oven isn't a difficult task, but, because of the size of some of the oven models, it is a two-man operation. Have a question? Things You'll Need

  • Assistant
  • Sharp knife
  • Phillips screwdriver
Instructions
    • 1 Open the cabinet above where the Spacemaker microwave oven is installed. If you see a vent in the cabinet leading to the Spacemaker oven below, your Spacemaker is vented. This vent needs to be disconnected before continuing with removal. Disconnect the vent either by loosening the duct clamps or by cutting the duct tape away with a sharp knife. Pull the vent out of the top of the oven.
    • 2 Have an assistant support the oven from below. Loosen the mounting screws connected to the Spacemaker through the cabinet bottom. Loosen the screws by turning counterclockwise with the Phillips screwdriver.
    • 3 Unplug the Spacemaker from the socket in the cabinet.
    • 4 Continue loosening the screws while your assistant holds the oven in place. Once the screws are removed, have your assistant slowly lower the Spacemaker down by lowering the front face at a 45-degree angle.
    • 5 Feed the power cable for the Spacemaker through the hole in the bottom in the supporting cabinet.
    • 6 Help your assistant slowly pull the Spacemaker forward and out of the mounting brackets on the rear wall. Once the Spacemaker is cleared of the mounting cabinet and rear wall, set it down.
    • 7 Remove the mounting bracket from the rear wall by loosening the screws.

How do I install a GE Spacemaker Microwave oven?

It depends on where you want to install it. Thet usually go below the cabinetts which are over the oven.

IOt should have come with a template so that you can drill holes into the bottom of the cabinett so the holes you drill will match up with the holes in the microwave. Once done then there should be screws and fiber washers.

Good luck,

Will the template for JVM1790 be the same as earlier GE models?

Make your own template of the holes in the top of your cabinet and lay it over the new unit and see if they align. As long as your replacing GE with GE it probably will work.

Need installation instructions for otr microwave please

I just pulled my ge spacemaker xl1800 out. The mounting plate installs on the wall and two 4-6 inch bolts go through the cabinet above and into the top-front of the unit. The two top mounting holes are about 8 1/2 in. from the back of the unit and about 1 1/4 in from the side. If you don't have the mounting bracket that comes with the unit, you will have to use a 2x4 or similar to support the back & bottom of the unit.

Need installation instructions for the spacemaker GE microwave oven model JVM164owj01

Here is the link to the installation manual. Cut and paste on the address bar of your browser. http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40409-1.PDF It is possible to do it by yourself, but its a royal pain in the a**, so have someone available to help you lift it into place and hold it while you get the screws into the cabinet above. You could use sheet rock anchors to put the mounting bracket on the back wall, but I would really suggest getting the mounting screw into wall studs instead, even if you have to drill a hole or two through the mounting bracket.

The bottom of the door handle broke off. GE spacemaker xl

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.
