Question about SanDisk Sansa e200 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Video conversion using SMC

Audio is out of sync with video. Help.

I have decryped a dvd then using handbrake formated it for my sons itouch all with success. When i try to "convert" the same file that is on the itouch and load it onto my other sons e250 it works but by the time you get to the last couple of files the audio doesn't match the video. I have tried converting directly from the decrypted dvd files but with no better luck.

Hi Billy64,

Try MediaCoder it may give you better results. Normally a synch problem is due to the source being a VBR and the converted format being a CBR. MediaCoder normally warns you about encoding differences. Not sure it will solve your problem, bit it might make re-encoding process a little easier.

VBR -variable bit rate encoded
CBR -constant bit rate encoded

The Lip synch start off okay, but end up being several second out by the end of the video.

Regards,

Spare head 2.

DVD to MP4 Converter(Free/shareware)

Why some guys are hot for converting DVDs to MP4 videos ?

MP4was released for public use in 2002. It can be said that Apple's iPodpopularized MP4s more than anything else. But in recent times, profiting from its less space yet high video quality, MP4 is playing amore and more important role in internet-videos, kinds of portablemultimedia player, such as the iPod, PSP, iphone 3gs, Zune HD, mobilephone like Nokia 5800, Motorola droid, Google nexus one etc.

How to convert DVD movies to MP4 format with DVD to MP4 Converter freeware/shareware ?
Ilooked at two programs that rip DVD into mp4 video format for Windows.I found a free open-source program called Handbrake that wouldn't ripcopy-protected DVDs on a PC. I also found a program called DaniusoftDVD Ripper that converts Any DVD into mp4 format for iPod, iPhone 3gs,Zune HD etc. It also works great on Windows 7, and also takes stillshots of movie frames - a very useful feature.
Handbrake UsingHandbrake was as easy as plugging in my DVD, selecting the DVD inHandbrake, and clicking a button to kick off the conversion process.
Iused a regular movie DVD 'Ice Age' and tried it on Handbrake. It took awhopping 4 hours to rip the DVD and convert it into mp4 format, whichseemed like an eternity. But when I used The Matrix Revolutions - oneof my favorite sci-fi action flicks - and tried it on, The Handbrakewouldn't even start the conversion though, complaining that the DVD wascopyright protected (which it is).

TheHandbrake user interface was also hard to figure out. It has so manyoptions to configure, that I found it difficult to figure out where tostart.
Due to the slow rippingspeed of Handbrake, the large file size of the video file, and since itwouldn't work for me on a PC running Windows Vista (at least not with acopy-protected DVD), I decided to look for another option.
Daniusoft Best DVD Ripper NextI downloaded Daniusoft's DVD Ripper, which rips Movie DVDs and convertDVD to mp4 video that will run on iPod, iPhone 3gs, Zune HD and anyother device that can view standard mp4 videos.
Daniusoftwas able to rip my copy-protected DVD (even on Vista) much faster thanHandbrake - it only took about an hour and a half to rip the DVD on theWindows(7) That's several times faster than Handbrake in both cases, with the same level of quality, and with a smaller video output file(which will take up less space on my hard drive).

Ialso discovered an additional Daniusoft DVD Ripper feature - theability to take still shots at any point during the movie. There's amovie preview window on the lower left side of the screen, and a buttonthat takes snapshots as often and as fast as you click it; savingphotos to a folder each time. I really liked this feature.
Iused VLC player to view the resulting video and was pretty impressedwith both the video and sound quality. I was just using the defaultsettings, and it would have looked even better if I had set it to thehighest quality conversion setting.

Additionally,if you only need to convert DVD to your portable device like iPodtouch, Zune HD or iPhone 3gs etc. you could select the target directly. It is already optimized for output setting for the devices that canview standard mp4 videos. This will insure the best output quality andno asynchronism in video & Audio. As show in the following figure.

As I know iTunes and iPhone/iPod/iPad can only support MP4 video with H.264 format. So you just need to use Leawo DVD Ripper to convert your DVD to MP4 format and then sync into iPod/iPad.

DVD Ripping

This is a two part process...
You'll need DVD Decryptor (freeware) and AutoGK (also freeware).
In DVD Decryptor you'll be ripping the DVD movie to an IFO file.
Once that is complete load AutoGK, select the IFO file you just created (it will automatically get the .vob's you just created) select a destination defualt an audio track (usually movies have more than one audio track) and file size and let it go. Depending on the movie it should take approximately 45 minutes to an hour to complete.

The other program you can use after DVD Decryptor is Any Video Converter (also freeware). Instead of selecting the ifo file, select all the .vob files and then right click on the files and select "merge" (make sure they are in the correct order).

This program is a lot faster than autoGK BUT if your DVD has multiple audio tracks, it may not get the right one during conversion.

I believe you can get everything at www.filehippo.com

Hope this helps

After you get the conversion you just toss the converted file into a folder monitored by the Zune software and it will pick it up automatically. From there you right click the name of the file in the Zune software and click "transfer to zune"
