Question about Cobra 22 CHANNEL 2-WAY RADIOS
Is there a common fix for this? When I turn the unit on, no matter what button I press, nothing at all happens. Is there a lockout that's happening or is this a more serious problem?
If you find that the LOCK/MODE button does not correct the problem, I have discovered that the microphone button on the inside has a contact patch mounted on the board. This contact patch is like a piece of scotch tape with a metal dot in the center this slides off to the side and leaves the MIC deppressed continuosly which in turn will lock the radio. I have found this on several radios. Once you center the patch place just a small amount of super glue to the edges and yo will have no more problem

Your suggestion to check the alignment of the tiny disk on the TALK button switch was spot on. I was ready to throw away the radio, but five minutes of tinkering and it is working like new. Thanks!!

Your concern might be a simple case of "the radio is in locked mode" which can be verified with the presence of a padlock icon in the uppermost row of icons.
If it is so, turn it off by pressing the Lock/Mode button for a couple of seconds or till you hear a double beeping sound and/or the lock icon disappeared.
If there is no lock icon and none of the buttons will work, try to do a hard reset by removing the batteries and try again.
If none of the above will be corrective, your unit may require the services of a qualified communications technician since the problem may either be firmware or touch pad/logic circuitry.
Hope that this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
