F-3 signal on Jenn-Air SVE47600, grill-range, self-cleaning convection oven

I have an old (more than 20 years) Jenn-Air grill-range, self-cleaning convection slide-in oven, model SVE47600. Two months ago the front display panel (clock, etc.) faded out and I had it replaced by a Jenn-Air repairman. Last night the oven suddenly started beeping and flashing F-3. I pressed the cancel off pad, and the oven shut down. After an hour I turned the oven on again, but the same thing happened. Two hours later I tried again -- same result. I even unplugged the unit -- still no luck. So, I plugged it back in and left the oven alone. Then, at 11 pm, the oven fan came on by itself and wouldn't shut off by the panel. I unplugged the unit for good. Could you tell me what F-3 means and whether this is fixable? Is it worth repairing and re-repairing, or should I consider buying a new oven?

Thanks. Since I just got a new display panel, would that that new part be the cause of the problem? Or could it be that the oven is not properly insulated and frying the panels?

Our Jenn-Air cook top has a down draft fan. In the middle of grilling/cooking it shuts off. After a few minutes it will come on again. I know that when we use the grill the fan is wired to come on, but I can;t figure out why it shuts off

The F3 means there is something wrong in the sensor circuit, sensor/wiring/clock. F3 Problem: Shorted or open oven temperature sensor (RTD): Solution: Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

Oven technology has greatly improved over time. If you can afford it, I would consider replacement!

It is unlikely that the new part, if it worked for some time, was defective out of the box. If the repair company that installed the new part(s) has any kind of 90 day warranty (not likely but worth looking into) you may want to go that route first.

If you are comfortable doing so, you may want to be sure that the wiring harness is connected, not loose. I doubt that this is the problem, however.

Your diagnosis of worn insulation could be related, as heat in the wrong place is not helpful to electrical circuits!

Here is a link to a website that sells parts, but also has diagrams and helpful information for your Oven, should you choose to do it yourself!

Good Luck, and keep me informed

Have a wall mounted Jenn-air oven. Have used self-cleaning feature before. Followed step by step instructions to the end including locking the door and pushing "Enter". Went to bead expecting to wake

This is a general answer and not specific. The oven thinks is still in the cleaning mode. If it has one, push the clean button again. Set the oven to a regular bake cycle.

Do I need to vent to the outside?

Hello, No you don't need to vent outdoors, and YES all you need is a electrical supply. **I will add however, allow for an air cushion around the unit when it's installed in the wall as well as a vent or small gap with maybe a custom grill at the top. One of the most common service calls I get for self clean built in ovens is reseting or replacing safety thermostat's. Hope that helps Good Luck :)

Jenn-Air stove locked

After the lock indicator light goes out, move the door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off.
