When i hit the power button the blue lights come on and the they keep goin out and coming back on and the screen doesnt even light up. but you can hear the hard drive trying to boot.
The hard drive holder has enough slack so if the laptop is jostled, the hard drive pulls out of its contacts.
Remove the screws holding the hard drive in,pull out hard drive then push back in to ensure it is properly seated. this worked for me!.
Probably bad memory or loose CPU module. First try removing and resetting CPU. You'll need to remove Keyboard, Palmrest, and heatsink and shield beneath Keyboard. You'll need a small Phillips screwdriver to remove screws and small standard size screwdriver to loosen screw holding CPU. After removal/reset, put everything back together and try powering back on. If still same problem, replace memory located on bottom of LT located behind door. Also, you may have a memory module located under Keyboard next to CPU that may be bad.

i have the same problem, has anyone got it fixed yet? Please share it with us as well.
Can you remove the graphics card out of the hp pavilion and put another one into it?
I had the same problem. Actually one day the laptop froze-up and the only way I could get it to respond to ANYTHING was to disconnect the AC supply and remove the battery. But then when I reattached the power and reinstalled the battery I had a dead computer..........no fan, no lights, nothing, absolutely dead.
I let it sit for a few days and after doing some research on the internet, I decided I would dismantle it to see if I could find a problem. After removing almost everything, except the actual motherboard (I didn't find anything that looked visually wrong) I but everything back together.
This time when I powered it up it started to boot up but then froze on a black screen after the windows logo came up (only about 10 seconds or so. I disconnected from all power again. Then tried boot it again. This is when I got the the "flashing blue lights after trying to start for only a second or two" repeating over and over. I was going to reinstall the CPU as suggested by someone here but I though I would tinker with the Ram modules first. I took the only stick of Ram I have in the computer and switched it from the socket it was in to the other socket. I hit the power button and.......voila it works now. Thanks Fixya.
