I have run across this many times it is caused by the blower having worn brushes, replace the blower motor and check the connector for signs of burning, replace the connector if it seems burned. If you need the blower motor connector you can buy it from Ford, solder it in DO NOT USE CRIMP CONNECTORS! Shrink tube the solder joints.

after replacing the battery ,to overcome problems try resetting the CPU program with a scanner.

disconnecting your battery for about 10 minutes will clear the codes but if it comes back youll need to fix the issue. in indiana pre 97 cars the check engine light wont fail you

1990 Mercury Cougar Bostonian, mint condition... recently purchased. I hear a whisting/slight high pitch noise that seems to be coming from, in back of the glove box. Any suggestions or ideas?

its on the driver side of the motor on the botton there no easy way to change it make sure u undo the battery

Your problem could be the coolant temp sensor, or it could be the gauge itself, but something 2 do is if you can get it to a dealer, or a parts store. If you cant get it there, you can get an OBD I scanner and retrieve the code and know why the check engine light is on, but it could be from any of the sensors on the car, would be best to get it scanned.

If you are referring to the Check Engine light then this indicates there is a problem with the emissions system. Have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. The fault code that has been set by the ECU will tell you where to look for the problem. If the engine is running fine there is no hurry, but do have this looked into. If you are referring to the oil pressure light stop driving the car until you get this repaired as it may be serious.

Sounds like a synchoniser has gone kaput!
