Bissell Healthy Home Vacumn

Agitator brush works, but motor doesn't power up. Already checked reseating capture container and reattaching handle. Is there a manual reset switch on the motor? Please advise.

My brushes just stopped working on our healthy home. THey were working fine until the other day. Is there a belt that could break. Also what type of fastner (screws) are on the bottom of the vaccum so I may remove the bottom cover . Thanks TOny

I suggest you not buy a bissell vacumn cleaner. I am giving up on mine after trying to put the third bag on it. It is definitely not a superior or even satisfoctory product. I am giving it up and buying something else. But not another vacumn cleaner from Wall Mart; and not a Bissell. Not only is bag inferior in attaching to the cleaner, the cord will not stay attached to the hook designed for just that. It is just about 9 months old.

On the Healthy Homes Vac, did you check the switch for the vac, there are 2 on the handle, and the one could be open. Check the wiring at the motor, could even be the motor itself. If at the motor there is a thermostat, it could be bad, but comes with the motor.

Beater brush

Note: The brush will not rotate when the machine is locked in the upright position, because an internal micro-switch turns the brush motor off.

- Make sure brush switch on the handle is on.

- Check the belt through the clear brush cover. If this appears damaged or broken, take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have it replaced. If the belt is intact, please continue checking the following:
- Ensure both power switches are turned on when you check for brush rotation.
- Unplug the power cord and remove the handle completely. Slide handle back into the lower section of handle, ensuring the screw is in tight. If the handle is not aligned properly, this will affect the power of the brush motor.
- Look for debris wrapped around the brush (i.e. string, hair, fibers, etc.). When the machine is unplugged, cut away any visible hair, fibers or debris from the brush roller. This brush is NOT removable from the machine.
- If something has become lodged in the foot and the brush shuts off, turn off the vacuum and unplug this from the outlet. You can now remove the obstruction. The brush will automatically reset when the vacuum is plugged in and turned back on.

Brush will not turn

The most common problem is the handle isn't screwed in tight enough when the machine was assembled. Try tightening it down all the was and the electrical connections will then seat properly.

Try to re-install the handle. On occasion if the handle is not installed properly and secured tightly the unit may experience intermittent power.
