I mistakenly ejected my ipod, a 30gb 5th gen, from my computer while the "Do not disconnect" sign was still on. Now my ipod says it needs to be restored, but I have tried several times using itunes to restore but it just will not restore. Please help.

Ipod woulnt connect to itunes

Reset your iPod:

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Then connect it to your computer and see if it is recognized by iTunes.

If not, try other USB ports on your computer, especially any on the back panel.

I want to know which generation is the Ipod 30G model A1136, thanks

There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.

Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.

Ipod video 5th gen issue with downloading music

You should try using a different USB cable as it's very possible the cable is damaged. If that's not the problem, the logic board is probably defective and you can either replace it if you're comfortable enough opening your iPod or sell the iPod listing the defects on eBay.

Do Not disconnect message

if you don't eject the iPod, that is what will happen.

to eject it alternatively, what you should do is go into control panel\system and find the device manager.

You should find it under removable drives. click it and and select disable.

Then it should be ejected.

hope this helps.
