in most of digital cameras there is a small rechargable battery or a capacitor bank used to store settings in memory for few minutes. if that battery is dead it cant hold settigns at memory.
Batteries may need to be recharged or replaced if the error persists
after battery recharge or replacement the unit may require a service
evaluation.
If the batteries currently in the device and it is not
working properly, remove the batteries and wait for 30 seconds and
re-insert the batteries. In doing so if your camera has a back-up or
date and time battery, remove this battery as well. Removal of the
back-up battery will cause a full reset of the camera and will clear any
settings, including date and time.
The back battery is faulty and it is important that to keep your date in order the battery needs to be replaced. You will need to open the camera to check the back up cell.
It may only happen enter date and time if you remove the battery in the camera., If your not removing the batteru out of the camera you should not recieved that message, unless battery is out of charge or no power.
You should use this battery Kodak Li-Ion rechargeable battery KLIC-8000. This is a special battery for Z812 camera,
Note: You must also need to purchase a charger for this type of battery. I guarantee you it will provide stable longer power for on your camera
Try Duracels. Also, if you download alot of photos to your computer directly, you will kill your batteries in a hurry. I found that buying the finepix card reader, which will usb into your computer will save your camera batteries. You should probably check the dates on the batteries when you by them as well.
It is really NORMAL that the date will be reset to the Manufacturer's date whenever you are changing batteries.
For you not to keep on changing the date and time of your camera, use Rechargeable batteries for a longer battery life span but make sure that you will be setting the battery type of your camera for the Rechargeable ones.
To set the correct battery type. - Press on MENU button - Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2 - Scroll down until you see BATTERY TYPE - Select ALKALINE if you're using NON-RECHARGEABLE - Select Ni-MH if you're using RECHARGEABLE - Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved
Turn off camera after the settings have been changed to refresh the camera.
The instructions says there is a rechargable battery in the camera that maintains the date. It suggests that if the battery is exhausted the date and time will be reset (no definition of reset). It further says to connect the AC adapter/charger at least once every three months for 24 hours. You might try not using the adapter for three months and seeing if reset means no date/time at all or just 00/00/00. Steve
There is a small re-chargeble battery inside the camera
that charges of the main battery. Chances are that battery
had just drained when the date/time reset occured, but should be fine after you recharge.
