The jumper settings (if this is the one you are speaking about) are for clearing the BIOS (times, dates, hardware etc...). The diagram is probably showing the settings on which pins to jump when clearing.

Hope this helps.

The diagram show how to set the jumpers for various configuration to suit a variety components that can be installed on the motherboard.
The jumper settings on motherboards are generally for configuring the different CPU clock speeds, the memory bus speed and possibly overclocking etc. Some of the latest motherboards do not need jumpers, the different combinations are configured in the BIOS.

What are the jumper settings on the drive for the following? Cable select Slave Master

For Slave/Master set up most hard drives have a little diagram on them showing you where to put your jumpers for master and where to put the other one for slave. All hard drives are different. But on your diagram it should say "MA" for master, "SL" for slave and "CS" for cable select.

For Cable select you have to set jumpers to cable selected which should be on the diagram on your hard drive. You will need an 80 conductor IDE/ATA cable. The master conductor is at the end of the cable and the slave conductor is in the middle.

I am trying to figure out the proper jumper setting for Master settings

It should have a pin layout diagram on the back of the drive. The diagram shows the pins as if you're looking straight at them, so set the jumper as it appears in the diagram.

Need jumper diagram for motherboard

Hi,

Check that the hard drive is set to "slave" on the jumper settings where you connect it (if it's IDE). Also, check the boot order in the BIOS (or setup as it may be called when booting up) to make sure that they computer's not trying to boot off the new drive rather than the old one. I don't think the jumpers on the motherboard will help you at ALL. Drive jumpers are the only thing and as mentioned - set the new drive to SLAVE and make sure the original drive is on MASTER (this is usually all recorded on the top of the drive on the label)

Good luck!
