Canon 440f won't scan

Hi

I have recently purchased a canon 4400F scanner which until a few days ago was working fine.

Now, each time I try to scan I get this message

Unable to scan. Make sure there is enough space on the target disk.

I am scanning to my C drive which is 74.5gb, of which only 8.21gb is in use.

Do you kown how to overcome this problem?

Thanks

Rob Callaghan

I had exactly as described on my new 4400f scanner. Have resolved by uninstalling the toolbox software (it was at 5.0.1.2), downloading toolbox s/w from canon site, file name is S6A04mux.exe - toolbox 5.0.1.1 Installed this and all works from the scanner front panel

I am going to buy a new laptop operating windows7 are there upgrades to the software for my pixima ip6600d,i450 printers + my 440F scanner or must I buy 7profesional

Your printers will work with Windows 7 right away -- the drivers for these two models are part of the Windows 7 package. You can download an 'add-on' module from Canon's web site that will give you the full features of the original drivers, basically the items on the 'Effects' tab in your current printer setup window.

Canon also has a Windows 7 driver for the 4400F scanner, but you will have to download that from Canon's web site here.

You can see Windows 7 compatibility information for Canon's consumer products here.

I was getting streaking across all photos that I was scanning. So bad that I researched getting a new scanner. Then one day it started working just fine. Now today I scanned some slides and when I tried to...

sounds like the scanner is skipping pixels. that is usually a sign of malfuncting. the best solution is get a new one. cost of getting new one is much cheaper to repair it.

Cannon 4400F Scanner

I had the same problem with about 1 out of every 16 slides when I first got the scanner. The only way I found around it was to rearrange the slides and try again. I started scanning through the ScanGear software instead of Canon Toolbox, and haven't had that problem since. I've scanned about 6,000 slides and negatives so far.

Trying to make a copy- worked last week?

This is most likely only happening when attempting to scan through the CanoScan Toolbox. You can scan directly through ArcSoft PhotoStudio which came with the scanner. However, the error through Toolbox is likely caused by some limitation or restriction in the computer, possibly permissions of some sort. You may try deleting temp files from the Temp folder on the hard drive.
