Last night while playing a game, the sound went out on the game and we lost all controls. After turning it off and then trying to restart, the screen stays black, won't boot up and the tray motor will not engage. I've been inside our PS2 to clean it and have also replaced the laser eye but that was sometime early last year. What would cause it to stop all of a sudden? Is it something I can fix or do we need to purchase a new one?
You may be able to repair this. Open it up and clean out all the dust and lint. Be sure nothing is on the motherboard causing a short circuit. Tr it out and see if it recoveres after your clean up all the dust and lint from the motherboard.

Have cleaned it out and still it won't boot up. The fan runs and light foes from red to green, but there is no blue light for the tray. I'll check the motherboard again.
I have the same problem everything seems to work fine,but i start it it stays a black screen this happend all of a sudden.can anyone help pls.
