Question about Samsung Digimax S630 Digital Camera

CAMERA NOT WORKING

I just baught my camera 6 months ago and it is not working. It's doing pretty much what some other people cameras are doing. The LCD light comes on for a second but the screen doesnt come on and the lens doesnt pop out. Then it shuts off and beeps three times. Is this a manufacturing problems? Is there any other solution besides paying the shipping and handling to send it in? By the way i have'nt dropped it or store it in extreme temps or anything like that. Its stored in a camera bag in my apartment. I also take the batteries out when im not using it. Please help, i really love this camera and want it to work!

Thanks for the response to my question. I have NI-MH 2500 rechargable batteries in the camera but it still wont turn on to get to the menu options. They're generic batteries from walmart so im gonna try some new ones. Do you have any other solutions if this one does'nt work?

Cameras belonging to the S Series really do have a battery type option that needs to be set up first for proper power connection.

Recommended batteries are just:
- Alkaline (Non-rechargeable)
- Nickel-metal Hydride (Rechargeable)

Just the proper battery type by:

- Pressing MENU/OK button
- Scroll to the right until you are in SETUP 2
- Keep on scrolling down and look for battery type
- Press the right button to pick up on 2 options
like Alkaline and Ni-MH
- Press MENU/OK for changes to be saved
- Keep pressing MENU/OK to get out of the MENU

Once, it's done, camera needs to be turned off for a few seconds
so that settings made will be refreshed with the camera.

As you turn camera on, you're now ready to take many pictures.

ALKALINE (Non-rechargeable) batteries when set to the correct battery type will really take a maximum of 100 pictures.

For the Rechargeable batteriesCAMERA NOT WORKING - 1.gif (Ni-MH), when those are fully charged, and the battery type is set to Ni-MH, it will be taking more than a hundred of course.

I hope this help you a lot.

Sigma EF-530 DG ST - not working, on test or camera all 6 LED lights displaying. Any thoughts?

I don’t usually play with flash that isn’t built in- I prefer natural light, but...if this were me I would: A) take very fine sandpaper and very lightly go one time over all contacts for the flash and camera. B) I would also see if my button batteries in my camera needed changing. As I remember they have something to do with recognizing lenses and flash attachments. C) I would also make sure the batteries in the flash, although changed, were making proper contact with the battery terminals and might also lightly sand those as well since the flash is little used.

My display screen on the back of the camera is really dark and I am unable to view pictures or even see any menu commands. Is there anything I can do about this? I have had this camera a good 6 years and...

Not an unusual problem for this camera (I have one). You can find the LCD screens on Ebay for around $20. If you Google how to replace the LCD screen on YouTube, you can find a video of how to do it. It's not hard. :)

Dust stuck under glass on the lcd screen of my d60

If you purchased your D60 new, you could sent it in to Nikon for cleaning but personally, I'd wait a while if it's not affecting the camera's functions. If you need warranty work within the first year, you can send the camera in for that work, and they'll clean under the LCD while servicing the camera.

Canon Powershot SD450 got wet, would not work for a month, works great now but won't turn off. turns on by itself when you put the battery in.

hi - just managed to get mine working again after adventure in washing machine 6 months ago! I was previously at the same point i.e. not possible to turn camera off. I have just removed all ribbons from front pcb as well as the connection from the control panel ribbon under the lcd. Cleaned all ribbon contacts with alcohol & reassembled - now it works.

For vista you need other drivers. It's even possible your camera isn't compatible with vista. What camera brand and model do you have?

The problem is faulty CCD sensor ( this device converts light into image ) so faulty sensor means either poor quality pics or no pics at all. Have sensor replaced and camera will work fine.
