no your wii is in pal (UK EDITION) while your tv is NTSC( USA EDITION) so not compactible. So try seeing if tv has setting of switchin to pal if not sorry this means you can only by and play uk games if you got the wii in the usa its the opposite for you.
Sounds like your TV has multiple video inputs. Make sure the TV is set to the right channel or input. I know on ours if I hit the TV-input button on the tv remote I can change from inputs like s-video, video, cable etc and the Wii only displays properly on one of them.
Try plugging it into another scart socket, this sometimes happens when a tv does not support 60hz. the result is a screen that has no colour. You could try just plugging it onto the seperate av inputs. Most tv's these days have one scart that will work ok and in colour.
NES games on the Wii's virtual console can sometimes have display issues because the NES only supported 240 lines of resolution, which is stretched over a standard TV with 480 lines. Making the jump to HD,on a TV that can do up to 1080 lines, there's rare occasions that more issues could come up. I have never had any issues with Virtual console games on my HDTV, but there is a solution for finicky TVs. Plug a nunchuck into your Wiimote before starting your NES game. When the game starts, click on Operations Manual. When the Operations screen comes up, press the Z button on the nunchuck, and the a button, and 2 button on the Wiimote all together. You will hear a sound indicating you did this right. The system will auto ajust the game to your TV, so when you exit the operations screen, the game will display correctly.
the cable colors have to match the tv ones if you have different colors on cables then look for the label on the cables saying video or audio (red)=audio (white)=other audio (yellow)=video EXAMPLE if the cable colors are different than the tv then if the label on the cables say video and the color is blue etc. then you have to put it on the yellow putin on the tv no matter the color. If it dosent work then try holding the cables in many angles try pulling them or anything unlit they work get something to hold them up if that dosent work then i think you should buy new cables. Your TV goes black & white, because your Wii could be NTSC or PAL which. If your Wii is PAL and your TV is NTSC then the TV will show a blac and white color. Since NTSC is for North America and PAL for Asia
