I have two black lines running across the center of the television when it is on. I hand delivered it to Olevia in SoCal. After weeks of calling them, they finally told me it was the main board in the television, and it would cost $350 parts and labor to fix. (I really think they just threw a price at me without looking at it). I want to know if something like this would be cheaper if I brought it to a repair center instead of the Manufacturer. They run for around $900 now so I'm wondering if it is even worth it.
I HAVE A BLACK LINE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN!
IT COMES AND GOES BUT IN THE MORNING IT IS FINE!
The flat screen is made of a matrix of elements connected to cables
along the side and top. On your unit, some of these many, tiny
connections are making contact intermittantly thus losing the elements
in that area. These contacts are held in place with just pressure and
if that is disturbed, you lose that line of elements. Try squeezing the
cabinet of the TV on the outside at the top in the area of the loss and
see if that makes a difference. May have to go inside and see if the
contact assembly is disturbed or warped or something.
Hope ya fix it!
If you are getting 1.5 inch black vertical line or lines that come and go you have bad, dry or broken solder joints in the TV! Please feel free to give me a call if you need help! Ask for Dave!
Thank you!

I have a 45" Sharp Aquos that has a vertical dark line that looks like a crack or a black jagged lightning bolt. It is faint and only appears intermitently when their is darker contrast. The set is only 17 months old.
5 minutes after the TV is turned on, a flickering horizontal black bar would appear across the middle of the TV
