My Pioneer DVR 230 won't recognise any discs, even a lens cleaner.

  • Anonymous Nov 09, 2009

I couldn't do anything about the lens.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

    Hi,

You have the wrong DVD player. Mine is the 230S. No I haven't solved my problem at all, except that I will just have to send it away for repairs. And as that will probably cost a fortune I may as well get a new one. Your experts gave me some advice but it didn't help in the end. regards John McHugh, Sydney , Australia

SOURCE: I have a Pioneer DVR

Hello
Your Pioneer DVR's laser pickup unit assembly may have got damaged. It is a major work to replace it, as it may need to disassemble its mechanism and reassemble it. You must have a through knoledge about the process, unless the whole machanisam will get damged and become irrepairable any more. There are so many locks in the mechanism, and there is a chance of breaking them if you do with ease.
If you have a cleaning disc with you, just put it and play for two or more times. If the fault is due to dust or fungus on the laser units lens assembly, it will be cleaned automatically. If it doesn't help, as I indicated, if you have a confidence and more patience, try to replace it with an exact type and number. OK.

Using pioneer dvd-rw dvr-107d and it won't read dvd's. Need a solution.

Most common cause of this is a dirty lens. Try cleaning with a good quality dvd cleaner. This should fix the problem. Hope this helps.

Pioneer DVR-1910LS not even recognizing DVD-R DL disks

your DVD ROM lens has became weak.
and it cannot be repaired.
But if you manage to open the DVD ROM clean the dust in it & it will start working again but be careful remember that no power should be attached to ROM.
or you can buy a lens cleaner from market and try that.
pls rate my solution

Pionner DVR-540H-S no longer plays DVD's

little,

good day, true it's not advisable to use disc cleaner for it may also damage or scracth the optic lens inside.Possibly the optic lens of your player is either dirty caust by dust or faulty. but let's do hope it's only dust related and the only thing you can do now is to open and unscrew the upper cover of your player. Get a soft cotton buds, after dismantling the upper cover locate the optic drive lens and clean the lens by wipping it gently in circular direction. then try to play some DVD.

cheers,
mark

My pioneer dvd does no longer read dvd but play and burns cd and vcd well

Give this a try, if no change, the dvd rom may have to be replaced:- Try My computer>properties>devicemanager>hardware tab, then click on the '+' sign on the DVD/CDROM drives line. Right click your DVD then click uninstall. Restart your pc and let Windows find it again, see if it sorts itself out. If it's getting on a bit try a lens cleaner also.
