If it's just an DVD Player, the easist way is just run a skart lead from the player out socket to the spare skart (ext2) on the TV. Then choose ext2 on your TV remote.

I cant get dvd recorder to record ext 2

Firstly, is the scart lead plugged in fully? Does it get the sound or nothing?
Is the recorder sitched to the correct input? It may be trying to pull a signal from the TV which may not be passing through the picture from the sky box.
Also, is the scart lead fully wired? Some only work one way so try spinning it round between the recorder and sky box.

Just bought a Panasonic TX-P42G10B 42in 600Hz Full HD with freesat HD built in. We currently have Sky +, but i was unwilling to pay the extra a month for the sky HD service. Therefore this tv seemed fine....

Use a good quality scart leads for starters.
connect oon end to tv and the other labeled tv on sky box. The other is labeled vcr. connect another lead from vcr or dvd to that connection.
If you have a hd dvd player or Bluray, then buy a HDMI lead and connect straight to one of the HDMI inputs on the tv. I know this is late but i hope it still helps you and anybody else who may read this.

Connecting DVD recorder to TV and SKY box

A simple solution - aerial input socket error - wrong socket!!

There are too many choices on the DVD record/play machine. When the plug came out - it was pushed back into the wrong socket.

Dvd player not connected properly to TV?

You might need one or both of:

RF modulator.
AV switch (perhaps from an old video game console)

The modulator accepts the RCA plugs from your DVD player (yellow, white, red) and outputs an RF signal.

You can then plug the ouput of the modulator into the aerial input of the skybox, via the switch, if desired.

Connections for DVD Recorder/LCD TV/ SKY PLUS

Connect the AV output of the Sky box to the AV input of the Panasonic combo.Look at rear of the Combo and you will observe input and output RCA connections.Using RCA leads, hookup the Av output of the Panasonic to the audio/video input of the Sony tv. Power up Appliances, and you should be OK.

Setting up

on the back of your sky box there are two scart ports. one says tv and the other video.

from the sky box connect a scart from the tv port to the back of your tv.

from the DVD connect a scart from that to the video scart port on the back of your sky box.

now when you turn your DVD player on it will override the sky and come through on your telly without having to change the scarts around.

what i would like you to do now. is get an RF lead. ( aerial lead) plug this into the RF out socket on the back of your sky box either one will do ie RF out 1 or 2 makes no difference.
Then plug the other end into the back of your Tv if you have an aerial cable coming into your home then simply plug this straight into the aerial port on the back of your sky box.

The last thing your going to have to do now is tune your telly in. if you click on channel 6 on your telly then go to menu, setup, and manual tune.. A good tip for you put your sky on the TV GUIDE screen this will make life easier for yourself as you will know its the sky channel.
once you find it STORE.

now when you turn your dvd player on if you select channel 6 you will now have the sky channel so you can record whatever you like

Hope this sorts you out.
cheers

Souud delay on tv /amp

Instead of connecting each device (sky&dvd rec.) to the TV separately, I would simply hook up the sky to dvd recorder (connect the sky output and dvd recorder input), and then connect the dvd recorder output (must be called "play out") to one of the available recorder inputs (which could be a dvr, an empty tape input, etc)of your amp. However, you'll still have to establish a feedback between your dvd recorder and your amp. Therefore, if the dvd rec. supports it, you'll have to hook up the rec.out, which is on your amp.,to rec.in on your dvd recorder. After all these audio connections, you will only need to make a video connection among the sky, dvd rec., and tv. Get a video cable to hook up the sky video output to your dvd recorder's video input, then do the same thing between the dvd recorder's tv output and tv.
