The fridge light will ONLY come on if the door switch is tripped. The light will NOT come on for any other reason.

Hope this helps!

It's one of the two, eithere the socket or the switch, if your bulb works on other socket, then that just one of the two i've mentioned.

better get a continuity tester to identify which one causes the problem

GE Monogram ZV950S D2SS range hood - lights on one side stopped working then on both sides. This happened as I was changing bulbs. Everything else works.

Light doesn't work
  1. Light bulb
If your refrigerator light does not power on, the first thing to replace would logically be the light bulb itself.
  1. Light assembly
If your refrigerator light does not power on and you have replaced the bulb, this is an indication that the light assembly may have malfunctioned and will require replacement.
  1. Light switch
If you notice that your refrigerator lights are not working, replace your refrigerator light bulb. If this does not correct the issue, proceed to check the power light switch.
  1. Door switch
If your refrigerator light is not working and it is not the bulb itself or the power light switch, the next thing to check is the door switch. This can be checked for continuity with an ohm meter. If there is no continuity present, the door switch will need to be replaced.
  1. Light socket
If your refrigerator light is not working after replacing the light bulb, check for a possible damaged light socket. If the socket is faulty, replace the part to get your refrigerator light to power on again.
  1. Light board
If the refrigerator light is not working the light board could be defective. The LEDs on this board are not repairable, so the entire board will need to be replaced.

Why still no inner light on fridge working, ck'd door switch - not that as lower bulb comes on

If you know how to replace a light bulp, and you did buy the correct one, it should work fine. Sometimes the contacts in the socket or lamp holder don't make contact with the lamp. Look and eventually bent one or both contacts a bit.
Before you try to look in the socket, unplug the mains. I know it will be dark, but on the end of the day you will live and if you check the contacts when the mains is connected, you could touch a contact or you could make a shortage, costing you an extra way to the circuit breaker.
If you have a multimeter, put it on Ohm, and check the "new" lamp, if it isn't defect. The Ohm meter should give a reading.
If both the old and the new lamp are not defect, cheek the wiring in the fridge.

Light doesn't go off and microwave doesn't work

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Inspect the power cordUnplug the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
  2. Bad door switchIf your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary.
  3. Blown fusesTo determine if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to replace the fuse.
  4. Bad fan motorLocate the fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the fan has gone bad and requires replacement.

  1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.

How do i change the bulb on ag821azh microwave x2

follow this steps and use the VOM for fix it. God bless you

Light Bulb

If the microwave light bulb is not working it is usually located behind the upper grille and behind an access panel, and above the lower panel. On counter top units you will need to remove the outer cover to get to the bulb. If that doesn't solve the problem check the on-off switch, and control board

Main Control Board

If the microwave light bulb is not working check the light bulbs, sockets and wiring. If they are good the main control board might be defective.

Light Bulb Socket

If the microwave light bulb is not working and a new light bulb doesn't solve the problem, the light bulb socket might be burned out and need to be replaced.

GE Monogram 48" Freezer light works randomly

About the only way to determine what is causing the intermittent lighting to your freezer is to do a little electrical testing with a multi-meter. Also to press the door light switch in and wiggle it around may help you locate a bad door switch that simply can be replaced if the light decides to come on only when the door switch is pressed and released a certain way. Click here=> GE_Monogram_Refrigerator_Service_Manual Fresh Food and Freezer Light Diagnostics begin on page 46 of the PDF. I will be here if you have any questions but most of the physical testing will need be done from your end Testing the bulb sockets for firm connections and a good steady 12 volts output and 120 VAC input. If helpful please rate, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Inside light went out...replacing bulb did not work, any help or advise? thanks! Mike

Many times when the inside light fails to operate...it could be:

(1) A bad bulb ...replace with a known good one.
(2) Bad connection of the light bulb in its socket.
(Remove the bulb and spray the socket with WD-40 Spray Lubricant) then...
(3) Replace the bulb with a known good bulb..use a dry rag to securely tighten the bulb in its socket.
(4) The "Door Switch" could be bad. Replace bad "Door Switch" with new one.

Hopes this helps....Good Luck! ...... HandyHenry

Light bulb does not work

go to this site Parts & Accessories | Shop & Find Lawn & Garden, Appliance Parts at Sears PartsDirect | SearsPartsDirect.com put your model number in and you can look up your fridge,if you changed the bulb and it didn't work you could have a bad socket that the bulb goes into or a bad door switch, try pushing the door switch in and out to see if it will work or try unscrewing the bulb you might of not put it in staight or check the socket with a meter to make sure you have power there,go to that site you can look up the door switch and the socket if you need to order them, good luck

Refrigerator light doesn't work. switch and bulb good.

If you have an elect. meter, you can tape the door switch closed, remove bulb, and touch your leads, one to the center tab on the socket and the other to the threaded portion of the socket, where the bulb screws in and you should have 120volts. If you are sure you have no power, unplug it and try and gently pull out the switch. This is the only thing between the light and main power below. The switch only connects to one of the 2 wires and a connector may have burned or come loose. If you have power to one side of the switch to ground, and its taped closed, and have no power coming out the other side, then you have a faulty switch. You can get a socket and or switch at your local appliance parts house. Just take the model, serial, name, and product # if there is one and they can match one up for you. I'm betting its the door switch.

Interior light switch not working

check for power at the bulb socket with a test light, making sure your test light has a good ground, then touching the probe to the power terminal of the bulb socket, having the door open or the switch on. if power is there then check to make sure you have a ground at the socket by hooking the test lite to power then touching to the ground terminal of the bulb socket. you must have both ground and power to make a bulb light.
