The fridge light will ONLY come on if the door switch is tripped. The light will NOT come on for any other reason.

It's one of the two, eithere the socket or the switch, if your bulb works on other socket, then that just one of the two i've mentioned.
better get a continuity tester to identify which one causes the problem
About the only way to determine what is causing the intermittent
lighting to your freezer is to do a little electrical testing with a
multi-meter. Also to press the door light switch in and wiggle it around may
help you locate a bad door switch that simply can be replaced if the light
decides to come on only when the door switch is pressed and released a certain
