There are a lot of systems out there having trouble with the sleep and hibernation programs in windows. The first thing I would do if I wanted to keep the sleep and hibernation programs in place would be to update the BIOS file on the system. I for one am a believe the computer in turning off the sleep and hibernation. They have caused more corrupt windows installations than I care to remember or work on again. If you want to try turning these off for a while and see how the computer reacts, go to the control panel > power option > scroll through the settings and change the way the computer sleeps and hibernates. Also change the setting for what happens when the lid is closed. Change it to "Do Nothing" this will correct a case of the computer not waking up from somply closing the lid. The lcd will automatically turn off when you close the lid and turn back on when you open it...you don't need the computer going to sleep simply because you close the lid for second.
I don't recommend putting computers to sleep. If you're not using it, might as well as shut it down. Try to go to the Power Options properties of your computer. It's in the Control Panel under Power Options.
