My TEAC PL2000 DVD only plays some DVD's

Hello !
My TEAC PL2000 DVD only plays some DVD's, and do not recognise others DVD's (and I'm sure it's not a problem with region codes).
Can anyone help me ?
How to see it's firmware version ?
Must I upgrade the firmware, and how ?
Thanks.

Does anyone know how to de-code or hack a TEAC DV-H500 cd/dvd player. After owning for several years i still can't play or watch many disc's. Many Thanks

This works with some dvd players, don't know if it'll work with yours... With the remote, open the tray... punch in 9,9,9,9...and then enter, and then '0' and hit enter again. This breaks the region code or allows playing of any disk.

My TEAC CD-224E plays some DVDs and I don't now how 2 make it play the others like DVD optains one movie or more

If your DVD player is set to a DVD region, then it cannot play DVDs from other regions. You are allowed to change the DVD region only four times, then the DVD player will lock permanently on that region.
If your DVD region is locked then you can install a program that will allow you to play DVDs from any region.

What does it mean when my dvd player says wrong region??

DVD's are coded to play in different parts of the world. Each DVD player is set up to recognise these codes. Most are set up to recognise only the region code of the area it was made for. For example Region 1 is for the USA and Region 2 is UK and parts of Europe. A DVD player made for the USA market would not be able to play any other discs with a Region code other than 1. And so on... This was done for the film industry benefit so that films can be released at later dates in different parts of the world without everybody seeing it on DVD issued in the USA.
However most DVD players can be "hacked" by a combination of keys allowing the user of say a Region 2 player to change it to another region. Some can also be changed to Region 0 which means it should play any disc.
How to change the Region code can be found by putting the model number of the DVD into a search engine and the words 'region code'. Some can be found on this site too.
