My acer c312 touch screen doesn't see the pen, after installing a new HD and loading xp. the acer site doesn't list a touch screen driver. this was a used tablet with no HD. everything else works. it is a Acer Travelmate C312XCi 1.7ghz 512 ram with nvidea go 6200 video card

You need Windows XP touch-screen version. It came on disc with the laptop. I wish I had a copy too.

    Let me add however that Windows7 has tablet-pc support built in.

    Install Windows7 instead - it will allow your touch-pen to work, i have it running on one. I do not know if hand-drawn character recognition will work; haven't tried yet.

    Bump that memory up!

Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic ST4120 Tablet PC pen not working with screen
I just fixed this problem on the 4120 for a friend, What I did was first to install the drivers from the Fujitsu site so XP was displaying all drivers as installed in Device manager.


Then I ran windows update to patch it up to date and then I downloaded the drivers from the wacom site.

Then choose tablet pc from the first drop down and then os (xp in my case) from the second drop down.
Reboot
Pen working!

I installed windows xp on my toshiba tecra m4. How stylus pen works?
Toshiba Tecra M4-S435 is Tablet PC. Windows XP (Profession) has no option of touch screen.
In order to use the feature, you need to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or you may install Windows 7, which supports this feature and you would definately be able to use stylus and touch screen, as I have installed Windows 7 and its working fine with all the drivers etc.

Try installing the drivers from the Acer website. The link is

Select Notebook>TravelMate>TravelMate C110
Under the drivers tab, you will find all the drivers you need for your laptop. Don't forget to select the Operating system or else the drivers will not show up.

I think your actually having issues getting it to run on the toughbook because it uses different drivers for everything from the Acer computer. If you press F8 while booting up you can choose the option "Disable automatic restart (of system errors or something)". Then when the machine boots up you should get a blue screen giving you an error code like "IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_X Error: 0x0000005f. You could try to see what the message is trying to tell you to resolve it but the error msg would likely point to the driver that its trying to load that's most likely different from the toughbook you have. I'd suggest getting an external cdrom/dvdrom and install windows from a disc onto the toughbooks hd while its in that toughbook machine.

Go on acer's website and look for that particular model where you will get a list of downloads available for this model.You should be able to find the driver for this touchscreen and install it.If this does not work then you may have a hardware fault.

The Pen
I'm not familiar with your laptop but judging from all the pdas I've had with touch screens the pen itself is only a pen, you could basicly use a wooden stick to poke at the screen and it shouldn't make a difference to the computer.

this laptop has a touchscreen If I'm not mistaken and you should be able to use it even with your fingers.

You might have a faulty touchscreen or then you need to install a driver for the screen?

Pen Problem
First try updating to SP2 and then get the latest Windows Updates from Microsoft.com.

If that doesn't fix it, here are some Win2000 drivers for your laptop.
