This happened suddenly. My device was connected, as usually, in my car through its power cable. I turned on the ignition key but the screen didn’t get the usual Welcome Message. I thought the red small power button was off; I switched it on/off several times. Nothing happened. I tried to power it up, outside the car, from its power adapter with regular AC plug. Again the screen didn't light up.
I believe could be an internal component of DC power circuitry or the power small red switch broken. Do you advice to open up the box (6 screws) and watch inside? What else should I do?
NOTE: My QUEST worked fine for at least 4 years.
Thank you,
Vladimir
Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
I, too, have had my Quest for about 4 years (got it the week they became available) and I love it. Was worried that it was toast.
Your solution has it running again.
Did I say thank you? Thank you!

Usually answered in minutes!
I found the solution myself reading the User Manual (If you Quest Lock up..)
Actually the unit locked-up. According to the manual, I reset the unit by pressing the power button and IN button at the same time. The unit turned off. I turned it on again and now it's working.

First mine did not turn on in the car at all.
I plugged connected the unit using the AC adapter and after a few minutes it came on by itself. I disovered that after I turned it off it would not turn on using the batteries alone. I plugged it back in fiddled with the On, OK and speaker buttons ror a while and and turned it back on. But I found no reliable way to turn it on.
The next day it failed in the car after about 15minutes.
I disconnected from the car, and started it on batteries. Once I got it started again pushed the power button and in at the same time this seemed to fix the problem. It has been working fine for 3 days now.
I would cure a problem of the unit not powering up as follows:
1. Start the unit on AC power, (per Garmin support)
2. If the unit does not start after a few minutes fiddle with power OK and speaker buttons.
3. Once the unit does start reset by pressing power and in at the same time. (Per the user manual)
4. As an added precation I cleared the track log, I do not know if that did anything.
Vil, Thank you for the info. It worked the treat. Very grateful to you.
Esther.
