Watch battery i just recently bought my acer aspire 3690 from a pawn shop. I can only get on as a guest, and there is a bios password that i do not know.. i was told that if i remove the watch battery and put it back in it would reset my whole computer. i have taken it apart a little bit but i do not want to wreck it. does anyone know where this watch battery would be located?

    okay i took the battery pack off and under there is a plastic type cover .. how do i get it off without wrecking it.

The CMOS battery, is a unque item inside, usually in a trapdoor-like hatch near the battery cubby, remove the main battery before looking for it. It usually is covered in colored shrink wrap, it also can be several coin- sized batteries and a wire connects this to the motherboard.

    There is an indented part of this plastic piece of removable, get a small knife or screwdrive to pop it off. If tabs break you can glue them back on with super glue. underneat the cover should be a soft plastic coated battery, or possible just a raw button battery in a convenient slot. Try to remove the cover and let me know.

pull the battery and the small on board battery under one of the access panels wait two minutes it should clear everything

I tried but i dont see where the cmos battery is located in my acer 3690...is there a way to unlock my unforgotten bios password...i tried to tap 3 wrong password and they give 5 digits 04899 help plz!

My advice to you is technical. You need to reset the CMOS on the motherboard internally. As for the password in vista unless you know it you will more than likely have to re-install vista or do a systme recovery by using the e-recovery partition that comes stock with ACER computers. I do not advise you to try resetting the cmos if your not technically capable

Yes this laptop is a bit tricky...
You cannot just remove the cmos battery...
This s what you can try
to clear the CMOS, the jumper is below the RAM bridged with a screw driver.
2 shiny dots on the board below the RAM

bios password or windows password if so formatt it from a pawn shop reinstall fresh windows on it with new drivers should be ok if its bios in the computer nothing to do with windows then ya would need sum reset tool or new bios disk if thers battery thats usally on desktops sum labtops dont have them ok reinstall windows formatt it best best form pwan shop ones do it fresh
