Most times when a power outages occur, most everything that's plugged into an outlet receives a "Power Spike". Basically it's a shock wave traveling through the neighborhood power grid when the electricity turns OFF and ON.
Hopefully the TV didn't receive too much damage. Inside the TV, there is a fuse that may need to be replaced. Radio Shack or other electronic store will carry these fuses. If this doesn't solve the problem, the Power Supply Board maybe damaged.
Hello: 37 inchs have a television of the problem is that it works
like 10 minutes and turns off the image, has sound but no image, turn
off and on again returns to normal work and 5 minutes the picture goes
but still sound, can you help?
I suspect you have a bad set of capacitors in the control module. This problem usually starts out as a high pitched noise but can lead to the TV not turning on. Please see the link below, posted by StivO. It gives step by step instructions on how to replace the capacitors. This is a very inexpensive fix.
I would first check the back-light and the inverter. usually these are what causes the problems in LCD displays. If the inverter is bad most likely the back-light will have problems. If you need to replace the back-light 9 time out of 10 you will require a new display element.
I think your looking at the right thing. What does it say on the capacitors? 10v 1000Uf??? If that is what is imprinted on it then you have the right ones. Use 35v 1000Uf as replacements though.
It doesn't have a bulb. LCD type TV's ought to be the most
reliable type, but these Polaroids all have early failures of the power
supply. Only way to fix it is to replace the whole electronic
module. Call Polaroid cust. service and be persistant because
they are used to abuse from angry customers.
Good Luck
These Polaroid LCD sets all fail like this. Bad power
supplies. Call the warranty number and demand to have the main
module replaced even if it is out of warranty.
