Help The last time I used my camera a maybe a week or two ago, it shut off because the batteries died and the lens never pushed back in. So, I just now went to turn it on after putting in new duracell batteries in, which I have used all different kinds in my camera, I have it sent so that the Samsung icon is on as it starts up. So that came on and after a second you can see on the LCD screen but it is blurry and after a few seconds I hear 3 loud annoying beeps and then it shuts off. What could be the problem?? Please help.

My camera wont let me do anything. No batteries will work and my camera was already set to alkaline batteries. When I turn mine on no matter what button I push 2 seconds later it shuts off. I put fully charged rechargeable duracell batteries in and it still wont work. I don't understand. It worked just fine and the next time I went to use it, it was doing this.

The 3 beeping sound as ou call it annoying means that the camera has low battery capacity. the lens is stuck out because there is incorrect battery connection. there is an option on the camera setting for the battery type. try this one:
-turn the camera on
-click on Menu button
-select options using left/right, up/down button
-select Set up 2
-Select Battery type
-Select Alkaline for non-rechargable
or Ni-MH for rechargable
-click OK button

this setting should be done when using camera for the first time and whenever you are switching battery types, from rechargable to non-rechargable and vice versa.

send it for service to samsung. try to do this:

    -go to samsungcamerausa.com
    -click on customer service
on the upper right portion of website
-provide product code and e-mail address
    -provide all other necessary information
    in registration process
-take note of service center address
    -read all shipping reminders
-send camera to service center address provided

they will be the one to do the repair for your camera and if your camera is unrepairable, they will be sending you a new camera for replacement, but that is if your camera is still under their warranty. had tried that option and my camera is now working perfectly fine.

  • Anonymous Jan 13, 2008

it would usually cost $55 when camera is out of warranty. even if your camera is out of warranty and you pay for the $55, you will be receving replacement camera if your camera is unrepairable. they usually send refurbished camera of same or higher model.

sorry for the late reply. just got online today! if you want to know more, email me at [email protected].

About the warranty, basically you do have a 1-year Limited Manufacturer's warranty and it will start from the date of purchase. And if that expires, there is a usual charge of about $50-60. You'll be seeing the payment upon the creation of the online service request.

Mi cameras lens has refused to go back

Hello Andrew, With the batteries removed try gently pushing the lens back in with the palm of your hand, GENTLY being the word. If you are able to push it back in then install batteries and turn it on.

When i take a picture, press te button, the camera lens goes back into camera and shuts off, why?

Normally an indication of flat batteries. Low batteries do the same. Even bad quality batteries will do this. You should get 2 AA Lithium which will last a long time but when ready to go will die instantly.

My camera was dropped in the sand awhile ago. I blew some air in it, and got it to work. After about 2 weeks I was able to start the camera but then it shut off on its own and now the silver lens part...

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after the sand particles have jammed it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

Not turning on and has strange smell

Powershot A640 Could Not Be Powered On, Burnt Smell

My Powershot A640 died during a picture shot, lens remaining open. I thought it may be due to the dead batteries. But after putting new batteries and pushing the on/off button, the on/off indicator blinked once then shut off by itself. After a while, a strange smell came from camera batteries area, and I could feel warm there too. Immediately I took out all the batteries from camera.

When checking the posts here the other day, I tried one solution and got the lens back to close: first took out the memory card from camera, then put the new batteries in; push the on/off button with no memory card. I found the lens retracted a little before camera shut off by itself. I pushed on/off button three times to get the lens fully close. However, the burnt smell came out again. I immediately took out the batteries.
Did I get a short circuit inside? Is there any ways to fix it?

Kodak Z740 digital camera

TIPS:
1.)NEVER PUSH THE LENS IN AFTER CAMERA DIES, BUY A NEW BATTERY IMMEDIATLY AND TURN IT BACK ON, CLOSING THE LENS!

2.)NEVER USE AN AC ADAPTER, USE A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY OR A REGULAR BATTERY!

..to fix this...

Do as i say..

1.) Remove battery
2.) Remove front plate (screw driver may be needed)
3.) Check all gears, make sure they are correctly fitted in place)
4.) Move the gear manually to make the lens come out.
5.) keep it out, put the front plate back together.
6.) reinsert the battery, turn it on.

or...
1.) Remove the battery.
2.) Wait about 6-8 hours.
3.) Reinsert the battery.

or...
1.) Remove the battery.
2.) Try hooking it up through AC adapter, put correct voltage.
3.) Try turning it on.
4.) Remove AC adapter, reinsert battery.
5.) Turn it on.
If nothing happens just tell me..

Hope this may help;

Shut down prematurely

It turns out that the problem was the batteries. I put some good ones that I had in the camera and it started working just fine. Even though the others were showing that they at least partially working, maybe just not enough juice to really work. Anyway, with just about any problem - try new batteries first and see if there is any change or improvement.

Canon Powershot SD750

If purchased less than 30 days ago, take it back to the store for a replacement. If the store can't help you, Canon should then help you under your warranty. If Canon won't help, try these as a last resort:

Samsung Digimax V4 Power Consumption

I had similar symptoms as well until it finally died: 1) First started eating batteries like crazy, especially standard AA and rechargeables. The CRV3 seemed to work a bit longer. 2) One day out of nowhere the autofocus stopped working. I replaced the batteries and it worked again for 10 shots. Then the autofocus stopped working and battery died (with the lens stuck open). Pressing power, the LCD backlight flashes on, the LED in the view finder blinks, and the lens motor makes noise. Then nothing just stuck open. 3) Again new batteries and was able to close lens, take a few pictures and dead again with lens stuck open - same problem in 2. 4) Replaced the batteries a couple times and was able to get a shot or two off, and now its complete stuck open, even with brand new batteries - with same problem in 2 it just won't turn on. I finally sent it to Samsung the week of Christmas. I called Friday 1/7/05 to check and had to leave a voicemail. They called back Monday 1/10/05 to let me know they recieved it and that I should call back Thursday to check its status.
