Singer 744 beeps

The machine just beeps when I try to do anything- I rethreaded and it didn't help. The manual doesn't seem to have any troubleshooting tips for this.

Your problem is most certainly with the buttonhole switch. Firstly: Look if the buttonhole lever, left back of machine, is push up in position. The beeping sound is a warning message. Secondly Remove the light cover, left of the machine, loosen back screw and remove left hand screw completely. Check for a small black electric switch, follow the brown and green elecrtic wire, just back of the light. If you push the BH lever up and down the switch finger should also move up and down. If it stays down, the machine will not work and give a beeping sound. If the switch finger is stuck, push it up with the BH in top position. Hope this will help you

This site is wonderful. I can't seem to locate the manual and it beeped when I tried to use the buttonhole attachment. It works perfectly now. Thanks, ptppat

I have an error E4 on my Singer Sewing Machine. I have searched the manual and cannot find anything on this error. I have only used my machine a few times. It is brand new.

if it's still under warrenty I suggest taking the machine back.
try changing the needle
try turning the bobbin the opposite direction
if you have a front or side loading bobbin case try reinserting
the bobbin case back in the machine
or it could be the motherboard has gone bad, or the foot pedal

I have a Singer 9005, and the top thread doesn't seem to be catching the bobbin thread. I have rethreaded according to manual, worked with the tension, changed the needle. No better. What could this...

you might try holding the top thread tail 3-4 inches to the left side of the machine & turn the hand wheel manually on the right side of machine & slowly put the needle down & see if it will pick up the bobbin thread that way

I am trying to sew with the machine and get a beeping sound. I have rethreaded several times all with the same results. Also where do the error messages display?

I do not have access to a manual for this machine.

Look through the back, near the maintenance section of the manual for the error message codes and where to view them.
