I had the same problem. During the cleaning process, the white float was installed upside down and humidifier water level sensor was unable to read the float. I removed the phillips screw and inverted the float with the dark ring toward the bottm. Quick fix.
I had same problem and the fix was simple. Over the summer the water level sensor stuck in the "empty" position so the unit thought it had no water. Remove the phillips screw holding the components in and clean them and reassemble. This solved my problem and took 30 seconds to complete.
Took the screw out of the float and cleaned it. Working fine. Thanks
Same problem. Came here to read the possible fixes. Went back to try one of the suggestions listed here and, by the time I got back to the humidifier, the lights had stopped blinking and it was working fine. So plug it in, turn it on. If the display blinks, give it five minutes and see if it just starts working. If not, try one of these other suggestions.
I have had mine for quite a few years now , I want to say I got it back in 2007 and ran it non stop ever winter since then. We have has no problems with the unit , Its definitely worth every penny. The only thing I wish they added was a way you could *** Vicks to the steam . I remember as a kid you get a cold and mom would bring in the humidifier an fill the included cup with the Vicks and poof instant relief.
I would as well like a easier way to find a new copy of the instruction manuel because each year I have the issue with the blinking display an all till everything kind of resets or senses the water or whatever it does to work. I long ago lost my manuel and each year its the same set it up an turn it on and poof a short panic attack which subsides as the mist starts. I bet with the manual to refer back to I could reduce the initial attack or find some new setting to make it run to its best setting or even a phone number to call and get it up an running and get my monies worth from this thing,
I dont know why but it seems that every picture for this one and the Vs 205 are switched also you can find just about anything about this unit except the instruction manual.
Luckily I did find it this morning an now I am saving it to my computer.
I now now what I was experiencing is what it is supposed to. Luckily I had never listened to that little voice in my head saying throw this out because it is broke and start fresh.
Also for you and anyone else like me, who lost their manuals, get them while you can at:http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/con... .
I saved them to my computer.
I am nowadays trying to get the manuals for all my appliances and tvs and son in a online format where I can save them to my pc an on every computer I have it has a folder with copies of all the manuals they are now all in one searchable place

Fill Water Tank.
Turn off humidifier and unplug the power cord from A/C outlet. Remove tank from
base. Turn upside down and unscrew filling cap. Fill tank with clean, cool, distilled,
filtered, or tap water. Do not attempt to fill unit through Vapor Nozzle. Water temperature
should NEVER be too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures can damage the
unit. Tighten filling cap firmly. Return tank to base and let it sit for a few minutes. For
first time use or when replacing the demineralization cartridge filter, please soak the
filter in warm water for several minutes.

Actually what I did was tilt the machine for a few seconds (like 20) on each side-- it seemed to have trouble realizing it had water in it, or getting the water to the bottom. So after holding it to each side for a while it finally engaged and I haven't had any other problems.
