SOURCE: Monitor menu screen appears on screen

Try a hard reset: Unplug from power source, disconnect from PC and wait for 10 minutes. Reconnect everything and see if the issue is resolved.
If not, then you either have a loose contact on the menu button or failing circuitry. I'd recommend calling Sharp tech support in this case..

Osd main controls locked

*NOTE* This answer was actually found on another source.
The easiest solution to try is to reset the on screen display in the menu. Hold down the Menu button (it is probably marked Ok) for at least a minute. A menu list will appear on your monitor screen. Using the adjust button, press the arrows to enter the menu. Scroll down to the Reset section. On the right side of your screen, you will see an alternating Yes/No choice. When the Yes message flashes, press the Ok button. The menu should be reset and the flashing OSD control message should disappear.

If resetting the OSD doesn't work, then you probably have a physical problem with your Menu button. Sometimes, particularly on older machines, the connections to the circuit board are dirty or failing. Because you have to actually get into the monitor itself, you will probably void any remaining warranty by attempting this fix. If your monitor is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer to see if there is a local repair shop that can help you.

If you want to tackle this issue yourself, grab a screwdriver and take the plunge. Remove the casing on the monitor itself and locate the contact switch for the menu button on the circuit board. Sometimes, just working it with your fingers or a screwdriver is enough to unstick it - you can try to clean off any dust or grime that has accumulated around it to see if that is the cause.

How do I set the monitor so the menu will stay on long enough to change it?

There should be a setting in the monitor menu listed as OSD (On Screen Display). Try increase the length of time for it to stay on longer.

Dell E171FP Monitor goes black after 2 secs

Hi, I don't think the problem is with your monitor. Your monitor sounds like it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The monitor is supposed to turn off if there's no cable attached, which means there's no signal input. When the screen goes black, does the power light stay on and turn orange? or does it go off as well? I would recommend that you lower your screen resolution to 1280x1024 or lower in the Display Properties window, then remove your primary monitor, and connect the monitor to your desktop computer. You should see it light up when connected. The monitor auto-senses when there's a computer attached to the cable and when there's a signal. If it doesn't see a signal, it goes black to save power.

Volume pop up in the middle of my screen

no photos of said window presented? i cant see them?
must be OSD? the monitor brain on screen display (menu)?
even with the DVI cable pulled?
only a monitor stated, w1907, no PC
some monitors have button lock
read the manual ?oops HP deleted it...
it tells you to push the menu key on the monitor for 10 seconds
and it unlocks. (4 buttons right side left button is MENU)
doom?
that power deal sounds super bad, like the power supply is bad.
if the monitor fails by its self not plugged it to a PC
then the monitors is bad.
try a reset on it? ( power off for 1hr, or off then plug in with power button held? or power on with menu held (wild guesses but common practice)
ok found your manual page 4-8 shows menu page advanced
list line in list factory reset.
but if the keys are dead, and power lamp failing
the power supply is no good or worse. worse is always possible.
and expensive

ever see the support page, read the guides
