Inside the unit probably is a small rubber belt which will operate the draw, it has possibly fell off or snapped. It will just need to be replaced. Look on e-bay for a replacement belt. You can get loads of different sizes cheap from China.
I am wondering if you were ever successful in getting any sound? My unit is doing the same thing, but it has been since I plugged my phone in the line-in jack. Everything is powered, but no sound and I called Crosley and it is a discontinued model. There is no phono/line switch and if there was, I believe my problem would be solved. Thank you, if you get this and answer what your results were!
If you go to your Internet home page and type "Crosley Songwriter CR248 user Manual" into the search window and press your enter key, you will be taken to a page where you can download a copy of the manual.
Yes, there is i've done it before. You have to either open the back or the bottom it depends what cd player you have. then you will see the cartridge with the CD on it, take a thin long objects or something sticky and pull gently on the CD. It may take sometime but if you do it right the CD will com out with no scratch.
- the CD door motor rubber drive belt (if there is one), it could be either loosened or broken, if so, it needs to be replaced
- the door open/closed sensor switches (contacts), they could be oxydized or damaged, they are located somewhere under the CD tray, possibly at the front end of the unit (depends on brand and model), you need to clean these with some fine sandpaper
It could be something else like the door motor driver IC, the power supply for the motor, a bad capacitor in the motor drive section, a loose connection or a broken wire somewhere, but hopefully, it's just a bad rubber belt or a dirty contact.
