Door locked after power surge/failure

We had a power failure and our Gaggenau electric wall oven door will not open. We have tried taking off the child lock and flipping the breaker. It's an older oven like EB270

My oven has an F 10 signal

  • Anonymous Mar 27, 2014

Then I have to turn the oven way up to 450 or 500 to bring the heat back up, and it usually burns then. We replaced the thermostat. What else can it be?

We did leave the breaker off for more than 5 minutes and did try the pyro clean mode letting it heat up and then canceling it. When the oven reached locking temperature it didn't self-lock nor did it unlock. The lock symbol is also not lit on the panel at any time... Thanks for the suggestions though!

The question here is how long did you leave the breaker off? Gaggenau ovens have a memory and I always advise turn the oven off for 5 mins before turning the breaker back on. Give that a try. The first thing the oven does when the power is reapplied is go thru a test phase which included locking and unlocking the door. The key symbol will go on and off during this. Sometimes you have to also can run a self clean then cancel it to reset the lock. This works as well.

Gaggenau oven not self cleaning.

The self cleaning features only serves to keep manufacturers in steady sales of parts. Quite simply the oven can only take those temperatures a few times until they break. The heat burns out elements, damages fans, door locks and worst of all damages control boards which are not far enough from the heat source. It sounds like your control board is fried. Try turning it of at the breaker for 15 minutes by way of a reset.

Never use the self cleaning feature as stated here

I have a gaggenau oven EB 295. The door lock symbol is lit up. The door is opening though and when I turn the oven on it does not heat up. It just beeps every 30 seconds. How do I fix this?

Our upper oven lock motor has failed. Gaggenau/Bosch indicates no part is available. The lower electric lock appears to be available. Will it work on the top oven? Is there a way to bypass the lock so the oven functions?

I have a Gaggenau 270-271 wall oven. It is showing F 42 on the screen. what does this mean?

Open circuit in the door contact switch even if the door is locked.
If this happened during a clean cycle sometimes if you start another cycle and then switch the selector off after a few seconds the fault will right itself. If this doesn't work then you probable need a new door lock.
Hope this helps

Power Failure Came Up on Screen and Oven is locked and will not o

Hello, verify that the oven is connected to its power source. The oven may sometimes lock down if experiencing a power surge or similar electrical problems.Additionally, check that a fuse hasn't been blown in your home's fuse box. Some older homes may not have the proper wiring to support a high power appliance such as a whirlpool oven.If not you are not sure your wiring is sufficient, consult a local electrician.
Thanks
