Red Light Flashing 6 times

The TV was on, working just fine, I was out of the room for a few minutes, came back in and the screen was out. I turned off, unplugged, then plugged back in. Just after the green power light flashes a couple times (as it normally does before the screen comes on), the power light flashes 6 times continuously.

A 6 blink usually indicates a bad thermal fuse caused by the lamp temperature getting too hot. I strongly suggest replacing the sirrocco fan that mounts on top of the optical block too. Usually this fan gets clogged up with dust so the lamp temperature gets hotter than it should causing the thermal fuse to open up. Replacing the thermal fuse, sirrocco fan and cleaning the dust from the inside and fans will cure this. A Sony authorized servicer should be able to repair this for you. Good Luck

I have a SONY KF-WE50 rear projection tv, a few weeks ago it started to turn the pic and sound off while the green light was flashing around 30 times. After the light finished flashing both the picture and...

the green is the reboot process and is normal.
the red light is an error code indicator.
count the blinks of the red light...it cant be 30 times (I think)
it will blink a sequence, pause, then do it again for a total of three times.
count carefully, it gives you three chances to catch the number it is blinking.

Try the following to see what exactly the 6 light blinks mean.

To see the diagnostic screen, Press the following buttons:

Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power.

This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. This will tell you what is happening and see if it's worth fixing.

Also, have you tried unplugging the TV for a few minutes? if it's some kind of computer error, unplugging it will allow the error to clear and possibly allow the TV to work again. Just an idea to try in case the error code doesn't tell you.what is wrong.

TV works fine for about 3 minutes then the picture goes black and the red light on the front of the TV starts blinking. The sound works the entire time. If I shutdown the TV and wait a few minutes and...

The light is blinking a code. The code will be a series of blinks, a pause and the blinks again. Phone Sony service and give them this code. They will be able to advise you as to the problem.

I have a philips dlp 55pl9773 has one red flashing led on the front when i do a hard reset tv boots up lamps lites led goes from flashing yellow to green for about ten seconds and then back to red flashing...

MY philips tv model number 55PL9773/17 WAS TURNING OFF THE SCREEN AND LEAVING THE AUDIO ON FOR ONE MINUTE. THEN THE YELLOW LIGHT STAYED ON. THEN THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. thEN I TURNED ON WITH THE REMOTE AND THE YELLOW LIGHT TURNED ON AND A FEW SECONDS LATER CHANGED TO THE GREEN LIGHT AND THE TV TURNED ON. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BETWEEN 10 AND 30 IT DID THE SAME THING. NOW IT IS OFF WITH A BLINKING RED LIGHT PERMANENTLY ON. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO UNPLUG IT FROM THE WALL. I REPLACE THE LAMP A FEW WEEKS AGO AND IT IS FINE.
