Fred, Unplug for a couple hours then try, if does not reset, board, capacitors or power supply gone bad.
Check the attached links for TV's problem.,

Hi, Not sure why chat got closed/ disconnected. There is big transistor TL010 attached with heat sink near flyback transformer, this is horizontal output transistor, check it and replace if found shorted. Thanks.
I have the same issue! Did you ever find anything out on yours? Any information would be great! I would hate to throw the TV away because when it's on it works great!
Thanks
Alexis
This solution pertains to anyone who owns an RCA 61"HGTV, that is not working. If your problem was that your TV made a big pop or explosion like noise, and then turned off and would/will not turn back on. We had this problem as well, and asked for help on this site, but we fixed the problem ourselves. We removed the back panel, and cleaned everything really good with a small hand vac/with a small brush attachment. Be very careful, as there are many small wired connections on the board, you don't want to rub hard with the brush, be gentle. After cleaning the back of TV really good, we replaced back panel, reconnected to cable, and we had TV once again. This may not fix all problems, but it's worth the try before buying new parts, which may no longer be avalible anyway. Thanks to all that suggested a solution for our problem, add this solution to your list as well. Thanks again !! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone !!!
It sounds like the CP150 and or the CP114/120 capacitors need to be replaced, they cost around 3 dollars each and can be found at Radio shack or you can order them from http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ and they will send instructions with them.
